Last week my wife gave me a very nice birthday present, which I'm exploring : J.-S. Bach's Complete Works (155 CD box, Brilliant Classics).

Great gift and wife.

If you like JS Bach you might want to check out "The Lute Music of J.S. Bach - Vols. 1 & 2" from MA Recordings Very well played and engineered sounds great on ESL.

Thanks for the recommendation, duly noted ! Never actually listened to a MA recording but have heard a lot of good things about that company. Supposed to be top notch.

Take care !

Eva Cassidy day for me...
But I'll tell you what, hearing that song on my Sequels makes me think tha tKirby would approve of my current setup. Too bad he's not around to hear how great some of his favorite music sounds on it.

One more note, especially for "DTB300" (Dan)...

I've been playing around a lot lately with my "Sonic Holography" now that I've got the Sequels placed correctly, and I'll admit, for about 95% of the music I listen to, my system DOES sound better WITHOUT the Sonic Holograpy processing. Jazz, small combos, classical, even most rock, just sounds cleaner and has better definition in the soundstage running in plain old 2-channel unprocessed, which really comes as no surprise...

But when I put Pink Floyd or Mike Offield in the CD player, it's pretty much mandatory to click on the SH... :p

And now I'm considering going with an ARC preamp (LS-15 or LS-16), so the SH will be completely gone from my system, unless I get an external processor (Carver C-9) or a used Sunfire pre and put in in the loop just for surround duty and injecting the SH processing...

Pure signal is better signal. I know that. But I DO so love my toys.... :p

Siversun Pickups - Caravas: Excellent fuzzy guitar music in the vein of Smashing Pumpkin's Gish. Not the best recording for MLs but good music.

Delerium - Nuages du Monde

Wilco - summerteeth

Started off in a mellow mood - Nat King Cole "After Midnight" and then Alan Parson Project "Turn of a Friendly Card",both on vinyl. The Alan Parson then led me to the new Air disc "Pocket Symphony". If you don't have this yet - go buy it. Serious audio demonstration porn on the Martin Logans. The opening track "Space Maker" is the kind of disc that you would throw on if you wanted to sell the speakers. "Left Bank" is also a killer tune.

Hey Lugano, a question for you since you are one of our most prominent European members. Does Air record normally in English or French? I know they are from Versailles, but over here all of their stuff is in English. Just Curious.

After Lugano and Cherian talking about Vas and the singer Azam Ali last week I went out and bought some of her solo work. Right now I have "Elysium for the Brave"on. Great stuff. She's got an amazing voice. And serious HAIR:eek:

I have this CD as well. I have been listening to this and the Vas CD nonstop for a week. Her voice is a joy to listen to. Some good bass to be had in the Elysium for the Brave CD. Now that I have rediscovered the bass that I have been missing all this time I am happy again.

Listening to the DVD-Audio version of Porcupine Tree Stupid Dream .

This is one of the best prog rock mixes ever, and great music. Recomended to anyone who like good rock and especially to those who love Progressive.

I have a number of MA recordings. I'm not sure if I'll ever buy another because the producer (if its the same guy today) screws over some of the artists. I know one who had to file a lawsuit to get paid (not sure if he ever did get compensation), and hes done several for MA. I even met the producer in France. He had roped in a large gypsy band from the Paris metro and was taking them around cities along the Loire, where I heard them playing. We even talked about the artist above. I wonder how much the gypsies got. Needless to say, artist is no longer with MA.

Lutenists I like, Rolf Lislevand, Hopkinson Smith, Jose Miguel Moreno for baroque. Paul O'Dette for renaissance.

Took your advice on this one and picked it up today. It will be part of this Sunday's music. The first track does sound great.

Thanks for the recommendation, lately all of my music purchases start as a recommendation from someone on this forum.:rocker:

The Moody Blues~On The Threshold Of A Dream~ On Hybrid SACD IN 5.1 Surround

Robin and Burke I know your both Moody Blues fans with surround systems.
I highly reccommend you purchase this Hybrid SACD. Though not my favorite
Moody CD, my 3rd Favorite, after Days of the Future Past, and Seventh
Sojourn. This is the first 5.1 surround recording I've found of them I completely enjoy. I got it on Tuesday and listened to it twice back to back. I wouldn't have mixed it any differently myself. My only critizism would be on the track, "Are You Sitting Comfortably" the Bass seems to be subdued. I remember it being very deep and rich on the original version.

You can pick it up on Amazon for just $15.
