Nada Surf "The Weight is a Gift". Quite nice sounding considering it's not "HiFi" music. I would classify this as Alt-Rock I guess :)

Holy Schnikees! I never in my wildest of dreams would have thought I'd ever see someone on this forum mention this one.....

I have it by the way, and pulled it out earlier this week to listen to at work. Let's just say I was in a bit of an aggitated state that day.

I do find Scrap Metal a bit....unlistenable.

Sounds like a bad day in the hospital, surgical department, major problems, Dr. House coming over, clueless.

LOL!

And I didn't think anyone would recognize that one. :) I love this CD, but I agree scrap metal is terrible. Since I'm listening through the squeezebox I just erased that track. The rest of the CD is absolutely fantastic though. Awakened Beneath the Ground is a personal favorite of mine.

Discocarp, we all have our difficult-to-mention, heavy-compromising preferences... You mentioned industrial somewhere else, I happily enjoy Rammstein, how about that ? (Actually I love their lyrics)

My favorite by far is Consecration's Will. This song begs to be played LOUD.

I stumbled upon CB after buying a Third Mind Records/Road Runner Sampler disk in the early 90's after Frontline Assembly's Tactical Neural Implant (I believe) came out on that lable.

Ah, the days of my youth....

Oh I haven't listened to Rammstein in years and years. I used to really enjoy them, but the CDs have long since died in a car in a hot Florida summer. I think I'll have to pick some up soon, now that you've infected my mind thinking of them again. :) I'm afraid I can't appreciate the lyrics though. My german is really, really bad. (As in almost non-existant).

Now that you have me thinking german again, another band I really like is Einsturzende Neubauten. I haven't listen to them in awhile either. I think I'll throw some on later!

That is a FUN song. I like it a lot, and usually play it loud! I can't remember how I got into Controlled Bleeding. I've listened to a lot of obscure industrial over the years. Some of their other CDs aren't really very good (Songs from the drain ticks me off). Penetration is great though!

I like their stuff too from time to time...I have to be in the right mood for them. I too don't speak the language, but I try to read the english translation so I at least have an idea what the song is talking about...

This morning we are about to spin up the Decca LP of Holst's The Planets, and Isoa Tomita's Planets LP too. Love those discs and if time permits I might throw on The London Symphony Orchestra directed under the baton of John Williams doing the Star Wars Sound Track. I need a good new version of that LP if anyone has any thoughts, mine has been played WAY TO MANY TIMES and most of it buy a young boy who did not understand how to properly care for his records... :p

Spainish Music...

The acoustic and Spanish rhythm on these CD's are just glorious to listen to... :D

Particularly Roberta Flack's lovely ~ Angelitos Negros. In addition, from Kill Bill Vol. 1, "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" by Santa Esmeralda. From Kill Bill Vol. 2, "Malaguena Salerosa" by Chingon and "Il Tramonto" by Ennio Morricone. :)

I just finished listening to 3 CDs this morning. 2 of them need no introductions but the third I got yesterday. The CD is called Sunyata and it’s from a band called VAS. I looked up this band because one of the singers an Azam Ali did some of the vocals for the movie 300. If you like the Dead Can Dance then you will like most anything by Azam Ali. This CD is very Dead Can Dance like but with a Middle Eastern twist. Its worth checking out.

Just got on Amazon and ordered the 300 soundtrack, Elysium for the Brave by Azam Ali and In the Garden of Souls by Vas. It should get here before next Sunday :rocker:

Vas - Sunyata... only the beginning... comes Offerings, Garden of souls, Fest of silence and 2 recent others... Cherian, I appreciate having the same dark closets.

Seems like Cherian, Lugano and I all have an appreciation for Vas. I likewise have 3 of their discs. If you're player is so equipped "Garden of Souls" is HDCD encoded.

Didn't get a chance to even log on yesterday, so my Sunday Morning picks are only being posted on Monday. Spent the morning listening to Bach, Sebelius and finally to this new disc from Neil Young. NEW is a relative term of course as this disc was actually recorded before many of the young whipper snappers on the site were even born. "Live at Massey Hall - 1971" is the title and I'll tell you it may as well have been titled "Time Machine" because I was instantly transported to a time of flowers in my hair, free love, hashish like inscence in the air - bliss. Nothing but Neil, an acoustic guitar, a piano and some amazing songs and lyrics from a genuine American (Hey, Canada is still North America) MASTER. Recorded in glorious analog, this sounds AMAZING on the ReQuests. A definate "You are there" type of recording. Great Stuff!!!

ROFLMAO! I used to be SOOOO into ABC. I still like them. I have both "Lexicon of Love and "Beauty Stab" (which I actually like better) on vinyl downstairs. May have to pull them out now!

Hey Tim,

I got the remastered "Beauty Stab" CD and I'll have to agree with you that it's better than "Lexicon of Love". Good stuff!
