I'm spending time listening to some of the music I'd picked up at RMAF last week. I started out with a couple of sides of the Janos Starker "Bach, Suites for Unaccompanied Cello", then switched over to some heavy duty Afro-Beat Jazz from Hugh Masacella's stunning re-issue from our friends at Acoustic Sounds of his "Hope" album. After that I kept the PLC spinning the Aries platter at 45 RPM with a MoFi pressing of Natalie Merchant's "Tigerlilly". I agree with what Amey01 said over in the RMAF thread - a great album, possibly her watermark, and the MoFi pressing is flawless.

Where the fu-ck did those CLS come from?

Like those do ya Adam?

Right now I have them completely apart.
I hate the Dark Oak.
With some guidance from C.A.P. I'm going to refinish them in Dark Cherry.

I've decided to go ahead and replace the panels since they were made 18 years ago. Gonna place my order tomorrow.

I'll post pics when I'm finished, Hope to be done in 2 weeks.

It won't be such a long winter with virtually 2 new pairs of Logans to listen to.

Yeah, actually - I do!

Maybe you could make the project slightly larger and re-do them with "airframes"?

Enjoy - I should have read the other posts as now I know how they came to be in your listening room!

It's a little overcast here today, but it's nice and warm. I got up early and put on the very nice jazzy guitar work of Gabor Szabo's album, "Spellbinder". A great album to start with, this is a 2007 version put out by Euphoria Jazz and the sound quality is excellent. The music's not bad, either!

Next up was Lee Morgan, "Blue Note 1557 Vol. 3". There's some really great playing on this album, however, this is one of those times I wish I had a phono amp that had alternative RIAA curves adjustments. The symbols have a sizzling sound that is a little annoying on some of the songs. I wonder if it is not a great pressing, or if it was not miked properly, or if it was recorded too hot, or the RIAA curve was a little different. Regardless, the music is so good that I can live with a little sizzle on the symbols. All the other instruments sound very good.

I just finished listening to Jenny Lewis' new album, "Acid Tongue" and I think it is her best yet. Highly recommended. Oh, it comes with a CD of the album, also.

Next up is one that for one reason or another, I have never heard before, Bill Evans and Jim Hall, "Undercurrent". I've heard both before, but not this particular album. I think the album cover is eery.

Up in the attic switching out summer / winter clothing...but in the background Coleman Hawkins "The Hawk Flies High" is sounding good !

Listening (again!) to Tim's recommended Adagio d'Albinoni. Karr's virtuosity on an Amati double bass is a revelation, if you've not heard it before. Achingly beautiful and worth every penny, IMHO.

Today I went old fashioned.......... Glen Campbell
Man Jimmy Webb sure could write them hits !

Put on Dire Straits Brother in Arms in SACD 5.1 surround sound for the first time on the CLX, Logos, Source system. The sound is so unbelievable that I can not do it justice by description. The Summits were great, but these things are on another level. I may never leave the basement.

Well acca is not exactly music for a Sunday morning, but with all the talk in another thread,

AC/DC - Black Ice (and after my first serious listen in full, no, it's nowhere near as good as "Back in Black")

and then to put things into perspective for a perfect Sunday morning here on the Gold Coast,

Keith Jarrett - Facing You.

Hopefully the CLS are sounding well.

Up and running Chris.
Put em back together last night.
Hopefully they'll break in quickly.

Thanks for your guidance and help on the refinishing project, the pictures don't do them justice, They look much better in person.

I needed something to clear the cobwebs this morning, so I put on Mogwai's, "The Hawk is Howling". This is some very dense, textured music in which you hear something more upon each listen. Even though it begs to be turned up, it is somehow relaxing to me.

Then I was ready for Sonny Rollins', "east broadway run down". This is a "must have" in any serious jazz collection, IMHO. Sonny showing his mastery of the tenor sax and with Freddie Hubbard on trumpet, Elvin Jones on drums and Jimmy Garrison on bass all showing why they are also among the jazz greats.

I just listened to Ennio Morricone's "Peace Notes" Live in Venice. This is a beautiful DVD CD combo. I highly recommend this. Some of the most moving music I have listened to in a long time.

Velvet Revolver

Velvet Revolver - Contraband

I've had this one for a couple of months (bought 100+ at one time) and never had a chance to listen. It's actually a good hard rock disc, I was quite pleasantly surprised by it.
