I started with a Classic reissue of Prokofieff's "Symphony No. 7" with Martinon conducting the Paris Conservatoire Orchestra. After that it was another in the Acoustic Sounds 45 RPM Blue Note series, this one Jackie McShane's "Jackies Bag". Finished up with a little silver disk, but what a special one - Roger Waters "Amused to Death". If you've never heard this last selection it's a true sonic spectacular and plenty full of Waters usual sardonic wit.

Are you allowed to post here if you didn't have a Martin Logan hi-fi listening experience? Too busy this morning, so it was spent listening to internet radio (ABC DIG Jazz) on a secondary system out in the kitchen with some cheap 'n' nasty KEF speakers. No MLs involved - sorry.

The emphasis here is on the important stuff - the music, NOT the equipment. SO, you ARE allowed to post here, even if it is a Bose lo-fi listening experience.

My Sunday morning listen.....

was the new offering from Joe Bonamassa 'Live from nowhere in particular'.
Just awsome! A master guitarist. If you are into blues rock, be sure to check this one out.

Kiwi427, New Zealand.

Its Early but "Art Porter" never sounded so good coming through the CLS ...

The Complete Piano Music of Scott Joplin is spinning in the family room on the ML system right now. I'm in another room ( my office ) listening to what sounds like a real time live performance in another room.

For those of you who never heard of Scott, he was the undisputed king of ragtime between 1890 and WWI. Many of you will remember "the Entertainer" from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

I thought it was from "The Sting", although Redford and Newman were still both in it.

Yes, It is the Sting and Its good Soundtrack. Ill spin it now !
Thanks Dr. For the reminder , haven't heard that one in a while !

I spent the morning listening to music and hangin' out with my daughter until she had to return to Portland this afternoon. I just haven't had a chance to post until now. We listened to a few classics, starting off with Reiner conducting the CSO in Bartok's "Concerto for Orchestra". Followed that with a Classic re-issue of a true jazz classic Miles Davis "Kind of Blue". Is there a better album in the world to introduce my daughter to jazz? After that it was the first Snow Patrol album "Final Straw" on SACD.

Bartok's "Concerto for Orchestra". .
I have not heard it. Is it something like a "concertante" where each instrument gets a turn in the spotlight, unlike a concerto, which is focused on one instrument?

Haha! Pulled your chain !

BTW KEF does make some decent stuff.

Yeah sure - but not these. I mean, I would have thought they were good back in the days, but not any more. They're c.1994 K120s if anyone knows that model! Far from a pair of Reference series!

Man alive Tonight a was wild listen. I went all over the board. Dwight Yoakem to Buster Poindexter(AKA David Johansen) to Bob Seger. Ending with Chuck Mangeone

This recording of Dwight's work is a damn good recording. It has a warm timbre to it. Vocals are great with his style. YES I have a country side:D Buster Poindexter is just plain fun and the track "Butcher Pete" Has the deepest bass saxophone you will ever hear and its recorded at first dead center and then comes at you ending with a DEEP growl on the right side. Bob Seger was just ........Well no Explanation needed. I ended it with Chuck Mangeone. It was a long night but someone has to do it
