I've got the Trinity Sessions remake and really like it. Curiously, my favorite song on the album is sung by Ryan Adams.
Also, my favorite Lucinda Williams album is "West", though I haven't heard anything by her that I haven't liked. I've seen her live twice at the Birchmere, in Alexandria, VA., a nice small (less than 500) live music venue.
Steve - Funny you should mention 'West'
You turned me on to LW at Luthor's (Wardsweb) house in San Antonio a while back. Wrap My Head Around That. Sounded fantastic on his Vinyl/tube/horn system.
Since then I've picked up 5 of her albums. Good stuff.

I've got it too and think it's a great retake on an all time classic. Much more electric and the addition of Ryan Adams and Natalie Merchant makes for some really great new versions of the songs. Is the Ryan Adams track you're talking about "200 Miles"? It's possibly my favorite track too. I bought it as a CD/DVD set and the DVD is great fun also.
Sunday morning music? I NEVER listen to music on a Sunday morning. Ever.
Friday night music, after a weeks worth of hard work, with a much earned bottle of red? Now your talking
Tim, your post just reminded me of a used LP store in Toronto with a cutesy name: "Second Vinyl".Since I got a slow start, and I'm busy working on things it's been an all CD morning. Imagine that - me and no vinyl!?!

mmm - Grange on a Friday night. I wish that happened more often, but last Friday night it was a somewhat more affordable Preece Sauv Blanc.
Maybe we need a thread - "Friday Night Quaff"?
Of course, we could always discuss on this thread what we drank while listening to our music at 6am on a Sunday morning!!! HAHAHA.
Last up was Ry Cooder's masterfull blend of western and eastern music on "A Meeting By the River". If you haven't heard this album yet, you simply must. Although it sounds suspect at first to think about blending Cooder's bluesy slide work with Indian themes and sitar and tabla like instumentation, the end result is nothing short of mesmerizing. Originally recorded on the Waterlilly label as an all analog recording this has always been as standout on both CD and SACD, but the new Acoustic Sounds pressing on 45 RPM vinyl is stunning. Absolutely silent surfaces and an increase in the acoustic envelope over the CD that made my jaw drop. If you are into vinyl this one has to be on your short list!
Cat Power's Jukebox. I've got another by her (them? whatever), and both The Greatest and Jukebox have good music but the recording is poor. Anyone else find this?
Finally up as Beck's great album (my personal favorite) "Sea Change" , presented on 2 great slabs of vinyl. Not only is this album a seminal one for Beck, it's also, finally, a great demonstration disc. I've always loved the music, but found the dynamics lacking on the CD. I know it's available on SACD as well, but I haven't heard that version. What I can tell you is that on vinyl it is absolutely a demonstration quality recording. Deep bass and a wonderfull acoustic with well placed instruments and effects that genuinely support the strong lyrical content. This is one of those albums that is so much better than the CD that it makes the CD sound defective by comparison. Go buy it for the wonderful music, but if you have a turntable, don't miss the vinyl version for the incredible sonics.
