Luke!!!

OK so its not Sunday AM. but I just got this and.........Yea Baby!!!

This guy rocks, saw him twice last year with Toto at the House of Blues Chicago. Their hits from the 80's are alright, but I love all the stuff they have done since that has not been chart busters. Luke (as fans like to chant) has become a guy that can turn a tune. His other solo efforts have not been half as good as this one, check it out. If you like it then pick up the new Toto (Falling in Between) if you dig harder edge pop with that blazin guitar. I for one call upon this music from time to time, it just makes me smile, and bob that head.:rocker:

Doug,
Steve guested on a Booker T. Jones album called "The Runaway" back in the early 80's that I really dug. He played lead guitar on one of the tracks,(I believe it was "The Hitchhiker") and from what I remember the guitar solo was excellent, we'll have to check this one out

My system was sounding particularly good this morning. I emerged several hours later!

Ray Brown (with Christian McBride and John Clayton) - Super Bass
Bluezeum - Portrait of a Groove
The Corrs - Forgiven, not Forgotten
Richard Goode - Mozart Piano works
and an old favourite
Nils Lofgren - Acoustic Live

Nils!

I have heard this Nils Lofgren CD on a local audio walk I went on in Dec. Wow, this is a fantastic recording and performed flawlessly by Nils. Thanks for bring this back to my attention as I will be picking this one up for sure.
To be honest I really don't know much about this guy except this recording. Any other good stuff out there by this guy.

I agree, this is an amazing CD from what I've heard of it. It's pretty standard fare at many an audio show or demonstration. I've been looking for it for 2 years and have yet to find it.

I've got one of his studio albums and another that is a mix of live and studio. Neither are as good as what I've heard off of the live acoustic album. He's one hell of a guitarist. I believe he toured with Bruce Springsteen as part of the E Street Band for many years.

Today it's been a mix of CD's and vinyl. Started of in a reverent mood with John Rutter's "Requiem" on Reference Records. Next up was Sonny Rollins classic "The Bridge". Been some stuff in the news lately about Amy Winehouse, but it got me thinking about the woman I believe to be the best example of a bluesy, cutting edge English female artist, Polly Jean (PJ) Harvey, by means of two absolute landmark albums "To Bring You My Love" and "Rid of Me" - goosebumps. She scares me (in a very good way).

Excellent Album, It's in regular rotation here at my home.

Keith Don't Go.

I have a few of his albums, but this is the only one I listen to on a regular basis.

Here's how dumb I am. I use computers every day. I'm a moderator on this forum. I buy and sell stuff on-line all the time. But I never even thought to look for that CD on-line. Just been brousing the local record stores. DUH!

Thanks Wayne!

"Entre Amigos / Among Friends" by Brazilian singer Rosa Passos and bassist Ron Carter. A delightful disk, with lots of Brazilian Jazz standards, done really well. Another nice Chesy disk.

Yes, it is my FAVOURITE demo CD for my system, period. Fantastic recording, fantastic mastering, fantastic artist.

I've heard some of his studio work, but none are of this calibre. It's nearing on perfection.

Favourite track: (5): Keith Don't Go. Track 6: is also pretty good.

Actually Sunday afternoon because we spent the morning watching the Indiana Jones trilogy. Anyway:

Dexter Gordon- ST to Round Midnight
Eddy Vinson & Etta James- The Late Show
Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie, Ray Brown, and Mickey Roker- The Gifted Ones

Rodrigo y Gabriela

Just stumbled upon this phenomenal guitar duo... Rodrigo y Gabriela, absolutely incredible! Here are a couple live video's, including an appearance on David Letterman. They apparently have only a single CD, which is now in stock at Amazon. My order is on it's way!

I have their album in FLAC... very good, especially the first track. Showcases the ML's superiority with acoustic guitar reproduction. My friend saw them live, good duo!

No serious listening this morning - we've got visitiors coming from England so we're preparing dinner, making their bed, etc.

Listening to terrestrial radio though - ABC Coast FM

www.abc.net.au/goldcoast

Good acoustic / jazz / local station.

They have a good 128K stream if anyone wants to listen.

A couple of really nice Lps. Understated playing, good recordings.

On the first one, four keyboard masters: Chick Corea,Herbie Han****, Keith Jarrett, McCoy Tyner take turns.

On the second one, Bob James and Earl Klugh reprise their duet on their first album, One on One. This one's called Two of a Kind.
