Hello Tom

I don't know if you read all the new posts in the forum, but I would like to hear your opinion on my concern, or rather problem.

I have ordered a few new panels for my Ascent i here in Switzerland. They were ordered from a dealer via the general importer.

The first thing I noticed was that the ML logo was missing at the bottom center and the plastic sides are made of very cheap plastic and no longer as high quality and structured. But the most serious thing is that the panels are 24 years old according to the serial number and coding.

The importer was told by Martin Logan that the panels were newly manufactured, but this is contradicted by the serial number.

I have already written an e-mail to Eric from Martin Logan Support, but have not yet received a reply. I am somewhat perplexed and surprised that Martin Logan is selling such old and poor quality panels at all.

What should I do, do you have any suggestions?

Best regards from Switzerland.
Rolf

That just confirms that the panel shop in Kansas shipped them to Canada in late January 2025. It could have been new-old-stock (NOS) they had lying around.
That, or the serial decoder needs updating with new info. Hopefully you hear back from the factory. Their records would have the SN's sent to Canada.

Seems unlikely they'd have panels that old lying around. I think on this site alone we've had some people that recently ordered those same panels.
That decoder must need work.

I received this reply from Martin Logan.

"Thank you for reaching out.

For your concerns, I can first confirm that these panels are built in the US at our home office in Kansas. There is only one person who makes these panels anymore in the entire world. This panel you have given the serial number for was built on December 16th, 2024 so it is brand new panel.

Our vendor for the building materials has not changed though the finish may look different. Otherwise these are exactly the same as when the original panels were built 25 years ago now.

Unfortunately new panels for many of our Legacy speakers will not come with the MartinLogan logo or decal. We simply are unable to source these anymore to be the same as the originals.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Thank you"

I too have newer panels (going on 2 years now) on my Odysseys and yes the new panels came with no ML decal so my wife has the equipment to reproduce the logo decals. I had her make me different colors and I settled on gold for my speakers. The decal is vinyl and looks great as far as I’m concerned let me know what you guys think.
