James,
Welcome to the ML Club!
Wow!
What Lovely photos of your awesome system.
Yes, I am honored to have your systems first photo on this thread. And I can hardly wait to see more on the member systems section as well. Your system must sound wonderfully dynamic with your Prodigy's combined with the Descent together with Rotel power. I would like to ask which Rotel Amplifiers control which ML speakers?
I just love your set-up... How long have you had this system? Do you see your self changing or adding any thing in the future?..., because it seems to me your system is wonderful just the way it is...
Really beautiful system. Thank you for sharing it with us.
It is great to have you here.
Robin,
Thanks for your kind comments and compliments. Keep an eye out on the member systems page, it is under review right now with several photos and I will add another here as well.
Lets see if I can answer a few of your ???
I have been doing the ML thing since 5/02, but the Theater is new to me. I have only had it for about 3 months. I have had the rest of the system for a few years (3.5 years I guess actually). I had a Cinema in the mix before the Theater. Interestingly the only things I bought new myself were the Ascent and Descent speakers, the rest are ebay specials! HUGE savings going that way!
The Rotel 1090 powers the Prodigy, the 1095 (5 channel) handles the other 5 speakers in the 7.1 system.
I don't see much upgrading in the future really. Before I move up to MBL stuff I would like to add a dedicated theater, and put a Ferrari 456 in the garage and a Piper Comanche in the hanger, and it will take awhile to pay for those kinds of toys.
Seriously after I get those things I would like to think about MBL 101e's with some big MBL monoblocks. I MIGHT think about some tube amps to replace the Rotel 1090 and/or a higher end phono set up after the new RPTV, but I doubt it. I really like it the way it is. Always fun to have that sickness, what do you call it? Joeyitis? LOL! Fun to play around with this stuff! It is a great hobby!
You are correct though, it sounds SOOOO good right now, there is just no good reason to change anything.
The only serious change that will come in the next 6 months (less I hope) will be a bigger better RPTV...looking to move up from the 53" in the pics to a 73" Mitsu.
Thanks again Robin for the kind words. Here is a shot of the rack. You can see the Rotel RSP 1098 showing one of the security cameras at the house, it is the one in the garage. It is cool to be able to watch TV yet still see the security system cameras too!
All the best!
