Don't ask how it sounds...
Let me guess . . . It has a very liquid midrange, with cool, clear highs, and waves of bass. :haha1:
Secondly, why do you have the MBL's set up between the couch? I would assume that, as good as the MBL's are in filling the room, it has to adversely affect the soundstaging.
James,Question for you guys.
I am looking for something SOLID and good looking to set my MBL speakers on to get them up about 6" or so higher than they currently are.
You guys are creative...help me out here...
James,
I know you meant, us guys and gals are very creative...
I have been thinking, for a while now, I would try this ultimate solid material someday ~ a speaker stand made of the material which just keeps on giving / appreciating more and more everyday... This isn't a joke either, I am serious, I'm going to try it, whenever I have the spare cash to invest...
I do! I do! Can anyone figure it out? (I know its masochistic, but I'm curious. )6 inches of gold... 2 speakers... 4 spikes each... I don't even want to know how much spare cash that means...
James, I would not abandon the solid granite idea, but instead of a big piece of granite you could place 3 "columns" of granite under each speaker.
Lugano has the right idea...where can I get something like that in a nice polished black?! I need six of them just like those you pictured there!
James, what I pictured is a 3D rendering I created as an appetitizer for you, but I think it is a good idea, because cylinders can be placed by slightly rotating them. Just tilt and rotate, and you fine tune, and it should be sometinhg you can do easily even when sitting - as you do. Now, where to get them is a problem - here in Europe I know where, but over there I think that you should contact professionals working in the (sorry) departed area, i.e. cemetery monuments people. I'm hitting the limits of my english, I don't know how to say this, but pros in that area are full with resources.
MotorToad,19.3 g/cm^3 * $22/g = $424/cm^3
Size to suit.
Looks like now's the time to do it, too, the price has dropped quite a bit.
Conversion : 1 gram = 0.0321507466 troy ounces or 1 troy ounce = 31.1034768 grams
lugano,There's something erotic in these cost-no-matter, 253 pound speakers... http://www.kef.com/products/muon/
The price, on the other hand, ain't very sexy: $140k....
