Mapleshade CD's
Mapleshade recordings are incredibly well done, especially the jazz, but I also have the reggae and it it the most amazing reggae I have heard. In my system and to my ears, these are superior to Chesky recordings – much richer and with more slam. They will also letyou return CD'syou don't like, not jsut for sefective merchandise.
My favorites:
Clifford Jordan Quartet “Live at Ethel’s” Baltimore club date from 1987.
Clifford Jordan Big Band “play What You Feel;” Live in NYC 1990. Not normally a fan of big band on recordings, but the very best I’ve heard. Want to hear how well your system images?
Norris Turney “Big Sweet and Blue” last alto player with Ellington. Juicy sax sound; great quartet!
Bobby Battle Quartet with David Murray “The Offering;” if you like “Kind of Blue"....
Warren Smith, “Cats Are Stealing My $hit!” Jazz percussion, rap, whatever compositions. Impact galore.
Ras Mek Peace, “Midnite;” no reverb, no electronic effects, no haze, (well, maybe some, but no electronic, just the type you’d expect from a reggae band). Huge, pure reggae.
Perfect accompaniment to the wines from Heathcote.
