Does it seem/look like the panels are damaged? That's probably the single biggest factor in repair/replace decision...

I don't know yet what to inspect for visually. There is no question they sound off at this point. As mentioned above, sort of scratchy like really bad AM radio reception.

Cant remember, have you tried playing the speakers on another amplifier/receiver etc?
