Has anyone gone? I'm thinking of going this year. Do you need to go for three days or can it be done in two? Worth going? Compared to CES how is it?

Tim (MiTT) is our resident (literally) on the event, he lives outside of Denver. The general consensus is it's now far superior to those serious about audio, whereas CES is now the "Gadget" show in Vegas.

Quite a few of us were talking about heading out to the show this Oct. As the date draws closer and attendees from the site firm up we could possibly put together a "Mini-gathering"

I would consider making a trip to Denver this October. Might even have the new Jeep by then. :)

I consider it a "MUST DO" event!

Personally I wouldn't miss it for the world. I haven't been to CES, but was able to attend CEDIA and "THE Show" last year, and have been to one of the Stereophile shows. In my opinion, this show is by far the best. Robert Harley of the Absolute Sound calls it "The Premiere HiFi event in North America". Much more focus on 2 channel audio and music, less on home theater and gizmo's.

This year the show will be held October 12-14 at the same location it's been at for the past 3 years. Here is a link...

I'm already registered! If you are as nuts about audio as I am (and recent events surrounding our National Get Together in Lawrence would lead me toi believe that I am not alone in this regard), then you simply MUST come to this event. Besides, there really isn't a better time to visit Denver than late September or early October. Our "Indian Summers" are spectacular!

I'll host a coctail event at my house for those interested, and can even put a few folks up (must remember to clear that with the wife later). I'd like to have others listen to my system as well - so far Dave's the only one here who's heard it, and that was only briefly.

Do a search on my reviews of last years event - I posted threads for each day separately. It can be done in two days - but I spent the third day going back to rooms that were of most interest to me to spend more time settling in to the music and enjoying!

I plan on attending as well, and my wife too, this time. Still hafta firm up our travel dates and possible side trips, but I'd (+/- we) would be interested in having a mini-ML get-together.

It's going to depend on my work and travel schedule for October, but if it works out Karin and I will probably go.

cool, count me in.

My company's data center is in Denver and I usually visit twice a year, sounds like October is the ideal time ;)

Cheers,

Jonathan

I would absolutely love to do this show, but given that Cindy is due in mid-October I don't see it happening this year. Maybe next year.

We shall see what kind of hoopla I got going this October.... if I dont rotate at UIC for my 3rd ER rotation, I can most definitely take Tim up on the RMAF outing.

Joey :)

For anyone who likes to hike, there is a beautiful hike you must take...its about 70 miles west of Denver, but it is well worth it. I am sure Tim has been to Hanging Lake. :)

And Glenwood canyon is one of my all time favorite stretches of highway to drive.....either fast or slow....its awesome. :)

WooHoo!!! I'm going. Done. Confirmed today and made all reservations. See some of you out there. Staying at the hotel as well.

Yes, up I-70 in Glenwood Canyon. One of my favorites.

You should also check out Gateway Canyon west of Grand Junction. The Gateway Resort and auto museum are awesome. It's the home of the 3 million dollar Oldsmobile prototype. It has its own room within the museum. The food/accomodations are great.

FYI... just went to book a room at the Marriott for RMAF, and found out they are SOLD OUT! Fortunately, they have booked more rooms at the nearby Hyatt, at the SAME RATE. There are other hotels/suites nearby as well, but I think the Hyatt is the closest (0.5 mi). Sounds like it's gonna be one helluva show! Looking forward to seeing y'all there.

For those still needing to book a room, here's the info...

Hyatt to Honor Marriott's Rates and FREE Parking

Hyatt Regency Tech Center
7800 East Tufts Avenue
Denver, CO 80237
Reservations: 800-233-1234
Code: Rocky Mountain Audio Fest

RMAF is a much better show than CES if you would like to sit down and audition a lot of different gear...

CES is an industry show and most of the mfrs go there to firm up relationships with their dealers, etc, so it's not really a good place to go as a consumer if you just want to check things out.

The folks at RMAF are very nice and it's a very laid back show.

Hope to see some of the ML forum members there...

How about a headcount?

Being the local guy, I'd like to set up a few events for folks that are interested.

As the time gets closer I'll make some arrangements for things like a place for us all to meet to see the show together, maybe a coc$tail GTG on Friday night, or a group dinner on Saturday, or both.

Lots of great places to eat and hang out in Denver! Quite a few great music stores and live venues as well.

Let's start a list here of folks that are coming so I can get a headcount and I'll start working on a few things.

1.) Tim Bingaman (MiTT)
2.) Jeff Dorgay (tonepub)
3.) jtwrace
4.) sleepysurf
5.)

Will try to make it

Hi Tim,

Have some projects going on that may keep me here. However, I am going to try to make it if there are no work conflicts. Looking forward to meeting you and the rest of the gang.

Will advise once I know more.

I'll be there!

At this time, it appears that my work conflicts have been resolved and I'm planning on driving down next Thursday and attending the show Friday and Saturday.

Want to meet the ML amigos. Tim and Jason, I sent you a PM.

Gordon

Please have a listen to the Analysis Audio speakers and let us know how they compare to the Logans ;).
