Here is another one of those small world things that I like about the MLC.

My wife's Grandmother grew up just outside Vincennes, Indiana, next door to the Skeltons.

She actually dated Red and they talked about getting married, but he left home at 15 and she wasn't convinced that he could take care of her so she stayed in Vincennes.

Funny thing is they stayed friends and in touch until she and him both died in 1997.

Small world and a less funny one without Red Skelton.

For me as a kid growing up punishment was not being allowed to watch Red and when I was really in the 'dog hse' not only couldn't I watch Red but I was 'forced' to watch Lawrence Welk......

My brothers and I were forced to eat the stuff they used to make the bubbles at the start of the Lawrence Welk show.

Today, they would arrest you for forcing your kid to eat soap.

Funny thing though, it only happened once to me or either of my brothers. It was so unpleasant I never repeated the behavior again.............oh yeah that was the reason my parents used soap to discipline me.
