Rich, Good morning, actually the Plinius SA-Ref would be a better apples-to-apples comparison to the 350.5. The SA-Ref operates in pure Class A up to approx 120 watts and then Class AB to it's rated 300 watts.

You are right, Dave. That is probably a better comparison. Out of curiosity, what do the SA-Refs retail for? Does anyone on this forum have an SA-Ref? Anyone ever compared the SA-Ref with the SA-102?

Also, I am curious to hear Kevin's input on the differences between running the SA-102 in stereo and running two of them in balanced dual mono mode.

Apologies to George for the threadjack. How's that X-350.5 sounding, George?

are you sitting down Rich ??? SA-Ref - msrp $14995....gulp !!!

I too would also like to know Kevins impressions

Something tells me George is a 'Happy Camper' with repect to the new 350.5 !!

OUCH! Pretty proud of those! Is that for a pair of Mono's or is that a single stereo?

Reviewers PRAISE the MBL 9007 and if I recall it is a stereo amp at $12k but they tend to prefer it as a mono so $24k a pair. I think it is all A/B but it sure gets good reviews. I guess it would be a price competitor to the Ref, unless the $15k is for a pair already...

I have owned the following Pass Amps and they have all been great.

X150
X150.5
X250
X3
X5
X600.5s

I think Nelson Pass make great sounding bullet proof amps. They are a great match with any speaker and they don't care if they are in 8, 6, 4, 2, 1 ohm. They are rock solid.

Ouch! The X-350.5 retails for $9,500, so maybe that isn't a fair apples to apples comparison. I guess that rules out two SA-Ref's run in dual mono mode. :D

Good lord... running dual SA-Refs is like having an Infinity G35 coupe sitting between your speakers.... sort of!
