Things you can't do in big cities
12th annual St. Patricks Day eve' bonfire party!
This photo was taken about 10 pm. The temp was about
35F but nobody was chilly. I'm guess-timating here, but the
flames over my left shoulder are about 35 feet tall, and
were 150+ feet for the first few minutes of the fire. The
bonfire is about 50 feet behind me and it's so hot you
can't get much closer. Those are the remains of about
20+ TREES burning, not sticks. The pile was about 30-feet
in diameter and over 20 feet tall before being lit.
That Ashton VSG Wizard was lit just before the bonfire,
about an hour prior to this photo. At 56-guage, it was the
largest ring guage I'd smoked and I had expected a cooler,
less flavorful smoke, but it was awesome. I rate cigars by
how close to the nub I go, and this one was a finger-burner.
Expensive, but very worth the extra. Highly recommended.
The jovial, photogenic smile is the product of a full, fat
belly, a sore lower back from playing lumberjack all day,
and pouring 3/4 of a tall Balvenie 15 single malt down the
hatch. Which also helped drive off the cold.
