    Dust Cover--Up or Down?

Rich, I have done several upgrades over the last 12 months. I just do not announce it. I have the SME 10 and the 20 and 30 are just too far out of reach. I bought it used and got a steal on it otherwise I would still be using my Thorens. Jeff:cool:

    Dust Cover--Up or Down?

My Thorens I played closed. THe SME does not have a real dust cover so it is not there when playing. Jeff:cool:

    Overhang issue...

Well first of all you said it sounds ok so that is a clue that you are close. Whether you are close enough is a tough call. The only way I am afraid is to get another headshell and try it. Other than another cartridge of a different dimension that is all I have to offer. The hidden issue here...

    Receiver power enough? ML Vantage/Vista/Source

Although your space is not what one would call ideal, I still would try an in home demo. You always have the option of saying no. I still belive it can work but you are the final judge and only you will know. Good Luck Jeff:cool:

    Cartridge dilema

First off, no problem. It was more of a thought not a definite fix. I think it may be just be that combination may not work. Is there a VPI forum somewhere so you can post the question there too? I know several others here have VPI tables and maybe they will chime in with experince and...

    Cartridge dilema

I guess this is a tough situation to say the least. Are you sure the arm and cartridge are setup correctly. I almost sounds like they are not. I do not know the VPI table at all but it sounds like as the arm moves towards the center of the record the distortion increases. If that is the...

    Receiver power enough? ML Vantage/Vista/Source

I agree with Dan (DTB300) on this. Although we all would like the perfect room, the reality is most of the time it is a compromise. A lot of people also use the same space as a den/family/multipurpose room. There will be compromises in this kind of an area. I would not rule out ML's for you...

What I can say is yes it is amazing and another leap up. The SME 10 is an amazing piece of engineering. I think now it is just buying some more vinyl and SACD/CD's and just enjoy what I have.:music: Jeff:cool:

UK newbie with CLSiiz - amp advice sought!

Welcome to the club, I too have CLSiiz's and I do drive them with a tube (valve) amp. I am using the Conrad Johnson LP70S. I do not play them at ear bleeding volumes yet I do have plenty of volume for when it is needed. Would more power -current be better maybe, but in my case, it would be a...

CLS as Mains in home theatre setup?

I also use my CLS's as 2 channel music and HT. I have no real issues at all. They really do quite well for both. Mine are about 3 feet from the side wall and about 3 feet from the back wall. Jeff:cool:

Switch to Spire from Revel Salon I?

Jeff, Welcome I had a pair of KEFs before I got my first pair of MLs. The difference for me was eye opening. As stated above the mids and high was just more present and more defined for me. Also, as stated above room treatments play an important role too and this is where you can get your...

    new member from Calif.

Harry, I am in Lancaster! I am driving them with a Conrad Johnson LP 70S. It is a 70 watt tube amp and has plenty of power to produce some excellent sound. Maybe we can arrange an audition. :) Jeff:cool:
