    CLS IIz vs Summit/Spire

Batman, I have it hooked up from my second pre out of my preamp for 2 channel and I also am using the LFE when I do that for HT. In reality I think it is not working for the LFE any more and that is because there was too much bass. I have my surround processor set for no sub since I also have...

    CLS IIz vs Summit/Spire

Batman, Not to extend a long winded discussion but I too have CLSiiZ's. I use them for two channel and HT without issue. I have a Theater i as the center and it blends nicely. I have not had an issue of a bit of rise in the treble issue stated here but everyone has different criteria they...

What phono stages are you using and why did you pick that one?

I am using a ModWright SWP 9.0SE Tube Phono Stage. (Thanks Jeff) It works really well and I do like the tube sound and dynamics I get from it. I had an NAD PP-2 before so this was a huge jump. Jeff:cool:

    Tube Costs

CJ does the same as ARC and tests the tubes so there are no bad ones in the bunch. They will meet a certain spec or they are not sold through CJ but sold off to a distributor. If there is a problem with one they do stand behind the. I had an issue with a 6550 Svetlana Winged C which was...

    Detachable Headshells.

Victor, I found it much too tiring to keep chasing the final little bit and just try and remain happy with what I have and when I can afford it move up the audio chain. Personally I am really happy where I am rightnow and of course broke too. :) I know my avatar is hard to see but it is "The...

    Tube Costs

I know Conrad Johnson sells the 6550 "Winged" C also. These are the Svetlana brand and they are good tubes. You might also check Audiogon Jeff:cool:

    Detachable Headshells.

A tough question to answer. I can speak for the SME arms. I have had several and SME has manufactured both kinds. My guess would also be the application as in cartridge, table and how often the cartridges are replaced. I think SME still manufactures both kinds. I am sure they have their place...

    It's Kinda Sad

I thought it was handled correctly. As Rich stated, Tom has a full time job. Maybe a statement that the thread was closed or nuked would have been nice but the outcome is the same. Lets just move on.;) Rich I applaud you. You are a true gentleman and proud to associate with you in this...

    Turntable Mats

I also used the Herbie's Way Excellent mat with good results on my Thorens. I no longer use it but still have it because I am selling my Thorens and I like the sound better on my new table without it. :music: Jeff:cool:

    a little bit of History......

Amazing to say the least. I have been on the Capitol Records building in Hollywood and the studio where many records have been"created". it is just too bad Capitol screwed all the Beatles releases when the got the tapes way back when. Jeff:cool:

    Speaker Cable Question

I do that with my rear speakers. I am using a bi-wire as a single wire. I have double each side. :)

    toobie newbie

All the advice is good here. I think Dan (DTB300) listed a good place to start for tubes. You need to understand one thing (of many) about tubes. I am not if it has been discussed here in this thread or elsewhere but tubes like cables to their own varying degree will offer different sonic...

CLS depth. Xover, pre-amp and processor. oh my.

The way I have my system setup now which gives me the best and more realistic bass reproduction is to run it from the secondary preamp outputs from my preamp to my sub. I believe I have the Depth set at 45db so it only engages when necessary. I also had the LFE setup for HT and it what it did...

CLS depth. Xover, pre-amp and processor. oh my.

I could not agree more with Roberto on this. My sub is set at 45 and it has plenty of bass. There is no boom! Stand up or double bass sounds like they are in the room. Jeff:cool:

    Aeon i Budget Setup

Horizons59, Welcome! Don't sell your system short. If it is what you like then that is all that matters. We all can improve or change on our systems. If and when you decide to upgrade, you will and if not, enjoy your system and enjoy the music. Either way it is a win win for you.:music...

Advice on conneting to power source

fvbruin, I would say yes. I would also listen for any changes in the sound of your system. I really do not think you will have a problem because none of the components are a real big current draw. It is always a good idea to protect your investment. Typically but not always, they say do not...

cls zii speaker stands ,where to get them???

I agree that the Sound Anchors are not that good looking. I also think they are way to expensive for what they made of and to me the height is wrong. I would explore a DIY approach because then you will get exactly what you want. Just my opinion. Jeff:cool:
