Back on the OP subject: Yes, I'm thinking of ordering a set of SL3/Sequel panels ASAP, as my 30+ year-old Sequel II are ready for fresh mylar.
But given that it's a multi-month wait (usually), and if tariffs are in place, then I'm sure ML will not eat the tariff fee when they finally ship them.

Yes, you're probably right. Prices are only getting higher from now on anyhow. If you need a replacement set of panels, I'd order now. Hopefully things continue to work out between Canada and the US and new tariffs can be avoided.

If I were to order a new set of Prodigy panels and never open them, would they stay as good as new for many years? I'm assuming they would as long as they stay in the box and out of the air with no sunlight? Kept in an air conditioned space as well, about 72 degrees all year long.
Having an extra set would be nice.

I happen to have the second panel of the pair I purchased in 2006 to build out my SL3XC, so it's been in the original box, in my air-conditioned equipment room for 19 years. I bet it is as good as new.
Its partner that is installed on the SL3XC measures the same as the day I installed it, so it has not degraded at all. But then, it's in a windowless HT with a whole home AC and a HEPA filter that runs for 1.5 hrs every midnight whether the room has been used or not. Panels are vacuumed every few months.

So my answer is I believe that anything under 5 years it absolutely will be as good as new if well stored.

BTW- if anyone wants to buy it and the untouched SL3 I use as decor for my HT entrance to make your own variant of an SL3XC (using a JBL CBT 1000E for the woofer line array), I might be willing to part with them for a decent offer.

Aforementioned decor:

That sounds good. Right now I have fairly new panels that are only about 3 years old. They seem as good as new so far, but was thinking it would be smart to get a spare set sooner rather than later.

Based on my experience, you will likely not need new ones for at least 20+ years. Just take good care of the current ones.
