i actually jumped to conclusions too fast! the Mc and the Cary are 110v or 220v depending on country where it is sold.

sooo, seems that i'm in for a step-down converter, or have all my equipment converted to 220v before bringing it to europe. in case i move back here, i can always sell the old one there, and renew! :)

here is a question for you specialists, i haven't been able to figure out the answer. what is the efficiency of a step-down converter? i wouldn't mind an extra box, but i'm not sure it's wize to increase the wattage by a large factor...

i have also contacted with ML to check if their 110v version of the Vantage would accept 50hz or 60hz indifferently. i'll keep you posted on this.

cheers, olivier

Converting your equipment to 220v should be better than an external converter. IMHO.

So, FYI here is the answer that I got concerning using the Vantage in Europe from Jim Powers...

``The Vantages sold within the USA will only operate at 60 hz and 120
volts. They must be modified for both conditions in order to function in
Europe.
If you have owned your Vantages for a minimum of 6 months, we will
consider a voltage/hz. conversion for $200 plus shipping. ''

So I guess I have to say goodbye to my ML dream for the moment! Thanks all for your help. This is a great forum, and I may check it out from time to time!!!

:music:

Cheers,

Olivier
