Hi,

I may be purchasing a pair of the ascent i used and the current owner does not have the original boxes. I would have to transport the speakers approximately 200 miles. I have a Chevy Suburban at my disposal.

Is it safe to transport these speakers on their sides? If not, any suggestions on the best way to move these speakers?

I used to own SL3s a while back, but always had the boxes.

Thanks for any help,

Lauren

Without boxes is obviously going to be a risk.

1: Make sure the panels are well covered (large plastic rubbish bags are a good idea) so they don't get dust or debris on them.

2: Put as much padding under them as possible

3: I'd transport them on their back so that the woofers are free to move naturally.

Comforters, pillows, jackets...

Those are pretty good dampening materials to keep your Ascents from getting scratched up. Blankets to cover the panels.

Looks like you may have to undo your entire bedroom... lol.

Good luck! Let us know how you fare and I hope you get back with the Ascents safe and sound.

I moved my ML's in my SUV from the D.C. area to San Antonio. All I did was put some blankets down, then the speakers on their sides, with pillows between them.

I just did the same thing with a pair of reQuests. Pillows between and a friend riding along to keep them from moving.

Thanks for everyone's input thus far. I haven't heard from the potential seller yet, so this deal may fall through. I just couldn't remember if the sides of the electrostatic panel was flush with the woofer enclosure.

Thanks again and if I end up getting them, I'll post the pics.

I've transported my Odysseys for about 300+ miles in the bed of my wife's pickup using blankets and pillows to cushion them. No problems what's so ever. You can do it! :rocker:
