I am very sorry but I will be leaving the club. I have sold my Martin Logan Monoliths at Echo Audio in Portland, Oregon (I highly recommend Kurt for all of your selling or purchasing needs). Any ways I have purchased a pair of Vandersteen Quatros from Advanced Audio Systems in Tacoma, Washington. Thanks for letting me be part of the club and fair well to all of you.

In the vien of this is a small world and even smaller audio community, I am believe I am the happy recipiet of your Monolith III's from Echo. Looks like you are in Washington (also) but I had them shipped from Portland and I am setting them up properly over the next few weeks.

Hate to lose you but I do appreciate the Monolith's. I am marrying them to a brand new pari of McIntosh 501 Mono Blocks, a Mac 46 Preamp, and a Mac 201 CS player etc.

Poor pun but I echo your indorcement of Kurt et al as he was really great. I will have pictures soon.

Wow, that is a pretty small world. Andrew, I wish you well and hope you enjoy your Vandersteens. Feel free to post your impressions of them vs. the Monoliths.

Likewise, Johnwa, I want to hear how the Monoliths sound paired with the MC 501's. I love those amps.

I will definately post my impressions and a few pictures when all the gear shows up as I am excited to get back to a 2 channel set up. I am going to keep the HT config (the one posted) the same but the new gear should get attention from the near by islands.

Audiophileman: Can you tell me what connects you used for the Active cross over as it is the only device (aside from the speakers of course) that I don't have balanced connections.

What speaker wire did you run and or recomend. I have some on order but fear it is the weak link.

Andrew,

Good luck with the Vandys... those are great speakers! Heard the 5A once, thought they were better than I had them imagined to sound like.

I have a soft spot for Vandersteen speakers, and would love to own a pair someday. They were the first speaker to really grab my attention when I was 14 or 15. And the rest is history.

No need to "leave the club"....stop by now and then...if not just to say hi and show us some pics of the Vandys. :)

Oh yes, I heard the 5A a few months ago (driven by a pair of Ayre monoblocks, a Viva Linea preamp, and Ayre C5xe source, all wired with Audience cables). Gorgeous sound, even though the stage was wide rather than deep, but that may have been an artifact of how they were laid out in that room. I am sure that the Quatro share a lot of those qualities and are probably similar to another pair I heard recently, the Sonics Allegra. Congrats Andrew.
