Good afternoon everyone, quick question, my sump pump decided to burn up while i was at work, and it left a nice smoke residue on everything in my basement (including my beloved speakers lol) Little paint, carpet cleaner life is good.

My issue is, I have Vista's and 3 pairs of scrips I's. (duel centers, sides and rears)And the electro stat panel's on said speakers have a smoke residue. What is the best way to clean these? Is it possible?

Speakers are working fine, and sound good, but I cant imagine that the residue is helping the speakers in anyway. I cant say i noticed a loss of sound, but my theater was down for about a month during clean up.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and thank you!

Got some pics? I'd say terminal damage has been done - even if it is not apparent now, in a year, or even in five you may get problems.

Insurance claim I'd say and get it fixed properly. Don't delay.

Call ML, they would probably have the deciding vote. For me I would say that it would depend. How much residue is on them? The big thing is that the residue will add mass to the diaphragm and cause it over the next several years to decline in sound quality.

Now you can always swap out the panels, or give them a bath!
