SL3 crossover

I 'lost' the treble on one speaker (bass is fine); swapped the speakers and the problem followed, so I figure the amp and cables are fine. The panels, too, are only a couple of years old. I know the cable can get crushed under the panel but everything seems fine. I've also done a couple of basic continuity tests and that tests ok, but that's the limit of my knowledge, I'm afraid.

Any other likelies? A crossover component perhaps?

It is possible it is the crossover but not likely. You said you swapped the speakers, was that swapping the panels or moving the entire thing?

Entire thing. Since then ML has advised swapping panels, which is what I'll be doing tomorrow. Can a panel just give up?

No, the panel fades out unless the wires pull loose.

I had transformer T1 go bad once on my SL3, but other things which fail are the Triac and the op amp.

At the component level, plenty of replacements. But a good technician is required.

It could well be the HV supply that powers the diaphragm is out, so I'd check that first.
However, as Tosh mentioned, a fried T1 will also do that, so it needs to be checked.

It's important to know if the panel is 100% quiet, or just rolled off or very low in level. Connect just the panel without the woofer and listen to it. If there's some low sound then it's most likely the Hi Voltage supply is not getting up to full voltage. There's not much to fail in the crossover, and the transformer will only die if you've been pushing it to its limits.
