We have yet to observe any results from Rich's machinations of the sexy software for which he paid so much. Soon, very soon, Rich?

Perhaps he'll start with in his system thread! :)

I echo the kudos from others, Tim. Job well done--and I can't believe neither of us thought to take a pic of the two of us together when we met! Oh well, maybe next year. :)

Sure, you have. In the thread on other hobbies awhile back, I posted a few examples of my work. Some animal shots, some macros, etc. What other photos could you possibly be expecting from me? ;)

Hey Jim - just got the chance to watch your slide show. Just an awesome set of pics... really good!

The only thing I will say is I'm sure that the image processing s/w adds a sort of artificial character to the pics. That's very minor but noticeable. Not having seen the pre-processed pics, I can't see the overall effect, though.

I was wondering of you could post a pre and post processed pic? It would be interesting... one where you feel the processing s/w has been the most beneficial?

EDIT: BTW I know there has been some financial investment in your camera and the processing s/w. Please be assured that I really do think you've taken a really great set of pics. I am not having a stab - I'm just genuinely curious about the s/w.

In the spirit of the bumper stickers that proclaim "This Car Climbed Mt. Washington", I would like to see pictures of Summits you have driven.;)

Zu Audio

Did you happen to stop by the Zu or the Peachtree Audio room to listen to the new Omen?

As a matter of fact, yes. I didn't hear the Omen in the Peachtree room because they were playing the Sonus Faber's when I was in there. In Zu's own room they were playing the new Soul's and they sounded super good. So did the Essence in the Red Wine Audio room. I'd give some serious consideration to a set of Zu's. The metalic green paint on these ones was awesome. Probably one of the biggest bargains in audio. Audiophiliac; you've been to their factory in Provo haven't you?

Emotiva

Speaking of great audio bargains - I know a lot of folks here have bought into Emotiva's value proposition. This is the first year that I can say that I actually liked what I heard in the Emotiva room. They were running a 2 channel only setup, showcasing their new CD player (can't remember the model number) for $399 and the new XDA-1 DAC for $299. Nice value indeed.

Win Analog

At the completely opposite end of the cost spectrum, the room right next door to Emotiva was Win Analog. Showing with a monster pair of Rockport speakers (sorry I don't know the model number), Win was playing their V Series 833-135 mono block amplifiers ($110,000.00 pair) and Z845 Tube pre amp ($45,000.00). These things make the massive Emille electronics (to which they bear a strong resemblance) look downright dimure as evidenced by the photo with designer John Dark. Incredibly good sound playing The Sunday's when I was there.

Sidebar: I always LOVED the Sundays. It was always weird to me that the Raspberries got popular at about the same time, when I thought the Sundays possessed a much better sound, particularly with Harriett Wheeler's angelic voice; surely one of the sexiest in the business with the look to boot. I've got 5 or 6 of their albums and they are in constantant rotation on my system.

Miscelleneous shots...

I've got a bunch of stuff that I really didn't have notes for, but I'll just share for the porn aspect unless I can think of anything clever to say...

Auralitti

Interesting enough sounding speakers, but I really don't know anything about them...

Avalon and Rowland

Avalon and Rowland had a static display down in the lobby - I really wish this one would have been in a room and all hooked up. I'd love to hear the new Avalon Time's with the Rowland gear. Sadly, at just under $60K they will not be mine.

MC & Onix

German companies MC and Onix were displaying together. Mc, based out of Berlin was showing both electronics and speakers. The Onix integrated amp and CD player were both great looking pieces.

This went from 4,000 views yesterday to 10,000 views in about 24 hours, good stuff. Thanks again for the words and photos, I know I spent a lot of time on this thread in the last few days.

Nola

Nola had a large room and made the most of it, utilizing 2 reel to reel decks and a bevy of Audio Research gear. I wasn't able to spend a lot of time in this room, but it sounded very good while I was in there.

Tim, I realize that it was not at all possible to do a direct comparison, considering the equipment and music differences, but how did the ReVox tape deck stack up next to the Technics? I lusted after the Revox for a long time, then gave up about 20 years ago.

Soundsmith

The Soundsmith room was as popular as ever - standing room only in fact. I still haven't warmed up to the look of their electronics, but it's hard to argue with the sound. If you want eye candy you have to look at the VPI HRX and Terres turntables they had in the room. Soundsmiths Dragonfly loudspeakers sounded really good too.
