that fellow in China that had one (or a pair, depending) of everything in the audio cosmos, on several floors. To say nothing of his music collection. It wouldn't surprise me to learn the HE got the first CLX and has already A-B'd it with all his other stuff!

I'd say he's collecting for the sake of collecting. I guess there's nothing wrong with that - if you've got the money!

my feeling for a sub

If I bought a pair of CLX I would definatly not put a sub with them! I will say that I have not yet heard them but a sub seems to insult their design.I do not use a sub whith my spires I think it sort of muddies things up a bit but I do use one with my fresco i speakers they just drop of way to early not too.
by the way I am begining to warm up to the look of the CLX

To sub or not to sub with the CLX or any speaker is of course personal choice but the good folks at ML have designed some of their subs to work seemlessly with the CLX. Apparently there is a CLX configuration that has been on some of the subs way ahead of the launch of the CLX.

I had the pleasure of hearing the CLX recently without a sub and you definately don't need one but I personally would add one but probably not have it active for most of my 2 channel listening.

To at least paraphrase Farris Buller, "if you have the means I would highly recomend it".

I'm planning on running a pair of Descents with mine.

I've had excellent luck with one Descent with the Summit, Vantage and Spire. It takes a bit of time to get it set up just right, but once having it, I wouldn't go back to being without, now that I've gotten use to the weight it brings to the table.

As always, it depends on your room, etc.

Talking of the Spire, do you plan to publish your Spire review soon? I've read your Vantage and Summit reviews, so I'm very interested in hearing your thoughts on the Spire (all three are on my speaker shortlist; the budget is still a bit up in the air). The Summit-X too, if/when you get a pair!

with all do respect

I just checked out your ad on audiogon I think you should really clean up your room. if you take new pics I think you would get more interest that way.
those are more than nice speakers and should be treated as such!

It will be interesting to learn how the CLX's are configured with a sub/s and how good the blend is. 'Stats are notoriously difficult to mate with subs.

Yes, Spire review is almost done...

That one will go up on the gear section of the website instead of in the magazine. If you are on our email list, you will get a notification the minute
it's up!

BTW: we don't ask for any personal info, just your email address. It's worth signing up, because we are going to have some more discount offers etc, that you will only get if you sign up for our newsletter...

I am perfectly happy with the way the Summits and Spire mate with the Descent i. Even a few of my friends who are dyed in the wool "I hate subwoofer" types have all come away impressed.

I do have to defer some credit to my local ML rep, Harvey Gilbert who helped me get it dialed in all the way!

Thanks! I don't know if I'm the mailing list or not, but I'll be sure to add my name if it isn't!

They aren't full-range 'stats. Should be interesting!

Sunday, I've listened to Dan's (DTB300) set up (CLSII I beleive) and his sub integration was superb. With paitience and a good EQ program it's not that difficult, IMO.

Is he running the 'stats full-range & using the sub/s to augment? That way keeps the sub's x-over from getting into critical areas of sound.

integrating a sub into a full range stat was the easiest I have ever had ! Stats naturally roll off , There is no woofer and phase issue.
