I'd say yes. I started with one, then added another original when the "i" series came out (resulting in a significant price drop on the old stock).

Even with a single unit, you will shake glass in the room if warranted. My room is roughly 15x16x8 feet. I have confidence that a Depth could pressurize a larger volume than that - I run mine at about half gain.

Keep in mind that the Depth won't sound boom-y, mainly because it is very well-controlled. It will have punch though.

Works for me too. I think it's almost a seemless blend with MLs.

ML subs are a nice blend because they are very musical and a lot of folks like their HT performance.

With that said, if you want a really loud boomer - take a look at Hsu or SVS.

Hell, any of the bigger Definitive Tech subs are good for HT too.

ML subs have had some very good reviews and they are not overpriced...

Here's some excerpts from Australian Hi-Fi's Greg Borrowman in his June 2007 review of the Abyss Subwoofer:

"Firing up the Abyss instantly revealed the reason for its curious name: the bass this subwoofer delivers is deep... very deep! There's no doubt that Martin Logan's IME circuitry is responsible for this outstanding level of performance, but it still would not be possible for the IME to work efficiently were it not for the amount of air moved by the huge aluminium coned bass driver and this, in turn, would not be possible if the driver wasn't being driven by such a powerful amplifier.

Unlike most small subwoofers of similar size, I've almost universally found to have 'peaky' response that give almost 'one-note' bass, Martin Logan's Abyss proved to have a flat, wide-bandwidth response...

With larger, true three-way floor standing speakers, you can choose to opt for subtle bass re-inforcement and super-low-end accuracy by setting the (crossover) control at 30Hz or, if you'd rather experience some real 'slam' in the bass, you can set it somewhat higher.

Martin Logan seems to have thought of everything with the Abyss. It's a truely superior subwoofer that impressed me greatly and given the cachet of the famous Martin Logan brand, I was also greatly surprised by it's very reasonable price."

For the HT room I ended up buying the Velodyne SPL-1500R. With the power and massive 15" woofer it'll definitely rock the house.

From my experiance you need brut force and a large driver for a good Jurassic Park reproduction and other movies of the like. This sub will be for movies only.

You pose an interesting sub question, how does it work for movies apose to how it sounds with music. I am also considering adding a depth sub to match with Aeon i's.

I am wondering what you do not like about your paradigm sub for movies. It sure looks like it could shake the nails out of the walls. I am also under the impression that a quality sub for movies is easier to accomplish than a quality sub for 2 channel music, but I could be wrong. Maybe a better quality musical sub would translate into a better quality movie sub. From what I have read, the Depth is a high quality musical sub. I have my chioce narrowed down to Depth, Depth i, Descent, Descent i, Velodyne dd 12 or 15, but my considerations are for mainly 2 channel.

I must admit that I have been lusting after Paradigm S8's for my mains.

That paradigm sub is dedicated to my 2CH system only which is referenced in the "Member Systems" forum. I was refering to a sub for my dedicated HT room. Yes, it could shake the nails out of the wood if I played it in that fashion but I don't. I think the Velodyne SPL-1500R is a great choice for the bang for the buck for my HT setup.
