HI

I am new here but have been the happy owner of a pair of SL3's in seven years and is now playing with Vista. My question:

I have just purchased an Tact RCS 2.2X full version. I am running my Vistas in an biamping mode, with two pair of Acoustic Reality ICE-power stereo amps.

Do I have to setup the Tact to run in 2.0 mode(without subs) or is it possible to run in 2.2 mode and then set the crossfreqencies of my Vista??? which is
43 and 450 hz???

The reason for my question is that I would like to get rid of my Y-split cable, that I have to use, when I am Bi-amping with two stereo amps. If I could use the SUB out of the Tact amp, then it would solve my problem.

But the woofer in the Vistas are not SUBS because the roll of already at
43 hz.

Any Logan owners who has any experience with this???

best regards

Congrats on the Tact. Great stuff! I'm pretty sure 2.2 mode but I would contact them through the website. They are always willing to help. Let us know how you make out. http://www.tactaudio.com/

maybe this will help you:

One of the most exciting features of the RCS 2.2 XP is its separate subwoofer
output. The RCS 2.2X P can be used with one or (preferably) two subwoofers. An
electronic crossover can be set with a frequency between 60 and 400 Hz and a
slope between 12 dB/octave and 60 dB/octave to split the audio signal between
the main and subwoofer outputs. The correction software aligns the sub-woofer(s)
with the main speakers in the time domain and in the frequency domain, for completely
seamless integration surpassing even the best single-box systems.
With the RCS 2.2 XP, you can add subwoofers to an existing High End speaker
system for substantial sonic improvements. Preferably, the subwoofers should be
placed in the corners behind the main speakers. Corner placement of the subwoofers
will yield much higher effi ciency with signifi cantly reduced low-frequency
distortion. But more importantly, the transfer of energy from the sub to the listening
position will be much more direct, resulting in vastly improved impulse response.
The room correction system will easily compensate for the frequency response
variations of the subs introduced by corner placement. It will delay the main
speakers for perfect time alignment to within 1/8 of an inch.
The RCS 2.2 XP off ers you the opportunity to add subwoofers to a system and
improve the transient response tremendously at the same. This contrasts sharply
with the normal result of adding subwoofers to a system: slow – undefi ned bass
with lots of frequency and time behavior problems. If the separate subwoofer
outputs are not used, then the RCS 2.2X will use all the processing power on the main
speakers.

Hmm, everything looked promising until I noticed a glaring discontinuity at the proposed crossover point. The Vista panels goes down to 450Hz according to ML spec, but the Tact's subwoofer output only goes up to 400Hz! You're going to have a hole in the frequency range between 400-450Hz not accounted for

Good question, and you are on the right track, but as noted, the crossover point in Vista's is 450Hz, and I would not recommend going any lower.
In general, the factory crossovers are at the minimum effective frequency for the panel.

And the woofer in a vista should be crossed over to a sub at around 60Hz IMHO anyway.

Also, even IF the TacT could crossover at 450, you still have the factory passive inside the speaker. So unless you bypass the passive (circuit mods required), it still would not give you what you want.

For now, I'd recommend staying in 2.0 mode and if you get a sub, then use the TacT crossover to feed the sub at about 60Hz.

Bi-amping is hopefully already giving you many benefits.

Since the device is a Room Correction System, how has the setup for corrections been?

Thank's for the answers. I will go for the 2.0 setup. I have not made any
Room Correction yet, beacuse the Tact Amp uses an old fasioned RS232 communication connection to the computer. I have access to 4 computers at home, but none of them have an RS232 DB9 connecter. Therefore I now
have found an USB adapter that I hopefully can get working.

I will be back with my experiences with the Room Correction later.
