I saw Keane at the Fox Theater in Oakland last night.

Really bad acoustics and sound system. Really echoey, even the acoustic numbers they did were echoey.

I don't recommend seeing live music there. Big disappointment.. The place is BEAUTIFUL, however and they did a magnificent job restoring it. I'd go see a play there, but not a concert... :(

Oh yeah, and to the person who farted in our general vicinity.. Thanks alot.. That was just wonderful.

One of my brands (Shaper, there in Point Richmond) did all of the lighting!

Bummer about the sound though (and the fart).

Maybe it was a French guy trying to taunt you.* :)

Worst concert venue I've ever been in was the State Theater (St. Pete, FL), for a Xavier Rudd concert. The place is basically a decrepit mosh pit, with virtually NO seating, and horrible acoustics. I'll never go back there again!

Speaking of acoustics! My wife and I visited Pittsburgh a few weeks ago, and we saw Bernadette Peters with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at Heinz Hall. I didn't care for the song list, but man, oh man, the acoustics of that place were incredible. We were in the upper balcony, far left of center. Despite that, the soundstage was crystal clear, and you could easily pick out the details from any instrument! The following week we heard the Florida Orchestra in the (smaller) Ferguson Hall at Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. Despite sitting near the middle of the hall, the acoustics paled by comparison. It seems concert venues vary as much in overall acoustics as do our own listening rooms, despite (supposedly) having professional acousticians involved in their design. I wonder if there are any comparative reviews of theater/concert hall acoustics online?

Maybe he was a New Age jazz musician..... oh! Hang on! You meant the olfactory assault didn't you?

the farter did it multiple times..
Nice. I guess one could be prepared with one of those timered air fresheners that shoots its perfume out every half hour..... stick it under the offender's seat...... but that doesn't happen very often, thank goodness!
