FYI... when accessing Pandora on my Squeezebox 2 today, it prompted me to d/l the newest firmware, which I did. It did the usual "reboot" but upon powering up again, it flashed "factory reset" on the screen, then died. None of the usual measures (including a forced reset) resuscitated it. Of note, the same firmware upgrade went fine with my Squeezebox 3, which I've temporarily placed into my main listening setup. I'm awaiting a response from SlimDevices/Logitech support. Their response will be a good indicator of the long term outlook for Squeezeboxes under the new Logitech ownership.

In the meantime, anybody with a Squeezebox 2, should avoid this latest firmware update.

What's this newest firmware do, SS?

Just one of the regular firmware updates, now v.72. I think it mainly fixes some issues with Pandora. (Note, I'm talking about the Squeezebox FIRMWARE, not the SlimServer software, which is currently on v.6.5.1).

Of note, I posted my problem on the Slim forum, and there are, thus far, NO reports of a similar experience. Seems I'm the only "lucky" one these days with electronics going kaput! I'm assuming Slim/Logitech will have me send it in for replacement/repair.

Fortunately, support still seems to be a high priority at Slim/Logitech, and after a couple emails, they immediately issued an RMA and said they'd fix it at no charge (despite being out of warranty). Like ML, that's what I call impressive Customer Service!

Of note, this latest firmware upgrade went fine on my other SB2 and SB3, so the problem was unique to just the one device.

Given the lack of other reported problems, I'd say it's safe to proceed with the latest firmware update.
