In the process of installing a few in-wall/ceiling speakers and noticed that the rectangular XTW6's have a paper-ish backing on the back side of the grilles, while the ceiling MC6-HT and MC4's do not. I'm going to assume that's by design but just found it interesting. Perhaps it's a feature of being part of the XT CI line vs the CI line.

Anything about it in the literature? Might be a Paint Baffle, or something like that?
 
I read through the user manuals on all of them and didn't find any mention of it. My main question is if I'm supposed to leave it as is or is it supposed to be removed?
