Not torture at all.
However, in the past, reviewers used to get a better deal than they do
now and a few people which shall remain nameless made a pretty handy side business out of buying every piece of gear they reviewed, then turning it on Audiogon a few months later.
As you can imagine, with some of this stuff that doesn't get sold in high numbers it can really cause havoc on a mfrs retail operation.
So, that's why they want you to keep it for a while. And also it looks somewhat suspect in a review if you say "I love this thing so much I bought it" and then you are selling it four months later. I think it's a good way to keep everyone honest.
Today with the top of the line gear being so expensive, precious few reviewers do own their systems any more.

They're getting closer!
Talked to Devin Zell and my CLX's shipped on the 22nd...
So, I'm guessing tues or wed to get here. Time to clean up the room!
And, they were nice enough to put lime green LED's in mine
instead of the standard issue blue! Haven't told the mrs about
that!!!

I bet you can't wait (I know I wouldn't)!
Please, just make sure the next issue of Tone Audio is published before you take delivery. Otherwise we'll never see it!
PS Is your Spire review in the next issue?

The new issue will be up tomorrow afternoon sometime. We have a few updates to go on the web along with the issue. I'll blast a note to our subscribers and also post out here as soon as it's ready.
The Spire review will go up in about two weeks on our website. I'll post a note here and again, if you are a subscriber, you will get a note from us in your email box. It's in final copy edit now, then goes to ML to make sure we didn't get any of the tech stuff wrong.
And yeah, I can't wait to get them. It's been a pretty long wait, so very excited to have them here. I'll post some new room pictures as soon as it's all set up.

Great news! I am a subscriber, so I await with bated breath!
Sorry to harp on about the Spires, but I'm this close to ordering a pair (gotta get the last few bucks in place) based on my experiences with the Vantage and others comments here. As well as saving up the cash, I've been waiting to read a professional review to add that last peace of mind! :drool:
