A number of fellow audiophiles who own PS Audio regenerators have independently come to the conclusion that they are NOT suitable for power amps causing them to be less dynamic, more constricted. Even the friend who has a P15 which is adequately rated does not use it to power his amps. Both he and I run PASS XA-60.8 monoblocks. We use the P's for front end components only. If you need extra outlets I would suggest a power extender strip without surge suppression such a this one from Tripplite...

Realizing this response is less than timely... However, given all you now know, and given your experience -- would you recommend or not recommend the P20? Inquiring minds, you know.
Not only have I not been up here for quite a while (actually, too long)... I really had to dust the cobwebs off this discussion! :)

I guess the best answer is the fact that my 'replacement' P20 is sitting in my rack and happily powering most of my gear. But specifically 'would I recommend' one? Sure, as long as your budget (and maybe more importantly, your back) can tolerate it! It's a big, heavy beast as I'm sure you are aware, and once you have it in place, you will likely have to do a bunch of re-routing power cables, etc. So it turned out to be a big job when I initially installed it, but it also gave me the opportunity to clean up some of my cable runs and other stuff behind my rack.

The big deal though was after I installed it and cleaned up my cabling, I will always remember when I powered everything on, let things settle in for awhile, and then listened to some music... it was one of the biggest improvements I had ever heard in my system. I'm clearly not a reviewer so can't lay down all kind of adjectives for the changes, but both the wife and I heard a significant improvement in our system which is the main reason I worked so hard with PS Audtio to keep it in place. (y)(y)(y)

My suggestion is if you are seriously considering a P20 (meaning a P15 won't fill your needs), then go ahead and bring one in under their trial period. While I have to believe that any improvement in sound quality is partially based on the qualify of the power at your home, I don't consider us to be in an area with questionable power and the install of a P20 made a big difference for us. Hope this helps!

You can add me into the camp of not running my power amps thru my regenerator. Although in my case, it was more about cable convenience and the fact that I already had 20 amp home runs to my main amps (Pass XA160.8 and Anthem P5). As for the extra outlets thing, let me offer another alternative to the Tripplite. I use a Furman PlugLock. While these can be used with regular power cords as an extender strip, these have an adjustable bracket at each outlet that is designed to keep your 'wall warts' plugged firmly in. Personally I hate wall warts, but it seems that I always end up with a few (cable box, Roku, etc), so I just plug all of them into my PlugLock and run the AC cable into an outlet on the back of my P20...

Thanks, appreciate your comments very much! I've viewed your (very impressive) system a number of times, and always marvel at very "clean" layout.

Although that Ohio State decor is a bit concerning...:)
