I have a Nikon d5000 with a few lenses and what not. Don't really know a ton about it, but thought that having a baby was a good excuse to go out and spend $1500 on camera junk. I always wanted to get a nice camera, just couldnt justify it until then. haha

Blimey, ditto bar the av, but Hifi, yep.. Photography, (nikon D700) yep.. Apple, er, I guess so, 3 macs and an iPhone.. And carbon road bikes, yep, felt AR1.. Self built road race bike, Felt B2 TT bike.

D700 a full frame beauty. This will be my next camera. I only have dx lenses so if I make the jump to full frame i will need to reinvest in new lenses. :devil:

Ahhh.. the F100, my favorite film camera ever! Even after owning an F5. Played with a D800 today.. WOW! but still staying with Canon.

Love my D700 also have 2 f-100's. I had to wait for a full frame body cause i already had glass..

Ps68.. custom and Felt.. nice! i'm new to road biking. My first full season was last year.. riding a Stevens SCF105 and love it. Going in for knee surgery in May and hating the ideas of losing 2-4 weeks. The weather has been so great that I've been out for 5 slow rides in the last 10 days. Right now, it's easier to ride than walk.. go figure..

Yes, I guess you could say I am into cameras. Seriously thinking about trading in the Mark II for the new Mark III. Also looking forward to Leica's announcement on May 10 to see what the new M10 is going to be about. I am also seriously considering going medium format digital, perhaps with the Pentax 645D. Might wait awhile on that, though. Still have a few Leica lenses to acquire to complete that collection. I am looking to get a 21 Elmarit and a 50 Summilux for sure.

The Leica is an awesome camera for certain purposes, but it isn't for everyone or every situation. Manual rangefinder focus is difficult, especially with longer lenses and older eyes and fast-moving children. And it is expensive as hell. But the results can be absolutely magical.

Leica lenses are the best ever made. Hands down. And they are completely backwards compatible with the new digital cameras. I have shot some beautiful pictures of my daughter with my new digital M camera and a fifty year old Leica lens! The lenses were so well made even back into the fifties and sixties that they still produce beautiful pictures with today's digital cameras. I will post a couple of those pictures to give you a feel for it, shot with a 90 mm elmarit lens made in 1961!.

No question that the size and weight of the Leica is a huge bonus in lots of situations. One possibility to get the small size and weight without the big price of the Leica is to go with a Fuji X-100 or similar. You can even get an adapter for them to take Leica lenses so you still get the advantage of the Leica lens quality if you want.

Oh yeah. My maternal grandfather was a Coll who came over on the boat, while my paternal grandmother was an O'Rear. She has some Irish on her mother's side, as well. She is very independent. Her hair is that short because she took some scissors into a closet and systematically cut it all off. She was tired of brushing tangles out of her hair every morning and decided she wanted it short. So she took it upon herself to cut it. I'm lucky she still has ears.

The Fuji X-100 has a fixed lens. It cannot be changed. The New Fuji X-pro1 has interchangeable lenses (Have my eye on one). I have a Fuji X-100 it has an APS-C size sensor and is big but it is not full frame like the Leica M9. I would love to get an M9 but the $7K price for body only plus an additional $2k to 3Kfor the lens for is keeping me out of it.
I have an old Yashica Electro 35 rangefinder (film) that I still shoot with. I like the tactile feel of shooting with rangefinders. The Fuji X-100 is a good camera has sort of the of the look and feel of the M9, without the cost or the need to focus manually. Don’t get me wrong the X-100 is far from perfect but it still a fun camera that takes excellent pictures. I get a lot of questions about the x-100 when I pull it out.

Thanks for catching that, Cherian. The X-Pro 1 is the one I was thinking about that can use Leica lenses with the appropriate adapter. Looks like a really nice little camera. Nice pics of you daughter, btw.

One day I hope to own a Leica. It is cool that all Leica lenses are forward compatible. The only issue I have with digital is that tech becomes obsolete so fast. This is why I still shoot film sometimes. I find myself trolling e-bay for a used M7. So many times I have come close on bidding on one but talk myself out of it in the last minute. The Leica have a classic look and the build quality is second to none. One day I know I will have one.
