Dave, I am allergic to beef, an allergy I acquired about 4 years ago, to my dismay as I really love beef, so both steakhouses are out. However, we can meet at any one of the multitude of fine restaurants in Montreal; I am partial to French. My favourite is just round the corner from the "Queue", and is called "Europea". Really fine French food in an upscale but unpretentious setting.

BTW it is generally agreed on another (food) board (chowhound.com) of which I am a member, that the Queue is overpriced for what they offer. They are now running an ad campaign that confirms the prices - it says, "Financing available on approved credit".

Nothing really, it's just one of those European things.

I'd like to see Montreal, and other places back east. One day...

If we should outlaw anything it should be the ability of scumbag bars that over serve there patrons every night and cause countless DUI deaths of innocent victims every year and it is legal for these scumbags to still operate.

Ah, see here we have a slightly different perspective. I don't drink (no moral or religious qualms, I just don't like the taste!), but I have no problem with people consuming alcohol. However, I have a very big problem with people drinking and driving. Personally, I think there should be zero tolerance for DUI.

But you know what? The servers in bars aren't the scumbags. People who are old enough to drink are old enough to be responsible for their own actions. And that means booking a taxi or assigning a designated driver before going to the pub. So in my book someone going to the bar without taking steps to ensure they can get home without having to DUI is the scumbag, not the person/establishment serving the beverages.

I have no problem with drinking I have done my fair share of that. I was trying to put a perspective on things maybe it came across wrong. my comments are mostly directed towards bars that cater too know alcoholics who just don't care and so forth.
