    System #338 (CLSIIz)

..went on vacation a listened to my brother in-laws...does give slight improvement(?) in the lower midrange but wipes out the floor coupling for the mid/bass...He electronically crosses his to a large sub at 80 hz as he does HT. I instead run the CLS full range and let the sub do 40hz and down...

    Ascent i vs ReQuest

I have auditioned both....Request is better for dynamics and IMHO the lower the woofer crossover the better...I don"t like male voices coming from the floor level but the top end is better on the narrower panel.

    Lose the Box

You may want to check GR Research OB suwoofer projects under Audio Circle....these look interesting put it is strictly diy with woodworking.

    Spires are hard to beat!

I heard a pair at Audible Elegance in Cincinnati driven by a MAC MC-2301....also changed my opinion about Wilsons...and if MAC would modify their 275 to sound like the 2301:music:

    System #338 (CLSIIz)

Tape seems to have some special quality...I remember hearing a Warner Brother prepared tape used by JBL....was in Bloomington, IN at college 1977 and a local studio had purchased a pair of JBL 4350 monitors...they were being set up/tested...Crown R2R(I had a 724 for many years ) bi-amped Phase...

    System #338 (CLSIIz)

Looks like an interesting club. I had an Otari 5050...wonderful sounding deck. IMHO has the best characteristics of my 2 decks...only reason I sold it was the maddening reel NAB holders they use and you have to get inside the deck to change from high to lower speeds.

    System #338 (CLSIIz)

I have only have 2 pre-recorded tapes all other were made off albums, other peoples tapes ,and cd's. One very interesting note ...I have the Moody Blues "Question of Balance" pre-recorded tape. I synched it up and compared it to the CD and they were pretty much sonically identical when played...

    Martin Logan CLS IIz questions

The CLS bass drops like a rock in most rooms below 50hz...IMHO a sub is essential...just cross it fast(24db) and low(40-45hz) and:music:

    Aerius i vs SL3

My first ML's were Sl-3's. I compared them to the Aerius and Request at the time. The Sl-3 bass goes lower than the Aerius and the lower midrange sounds better because the crossover is lower in frequency (more like the Summits).

    System #338 (CLSIIz)

I bought both R2R off Ebay years ago. The Tascam was likely NIB!...the Technics is in good shape....I have been sorta a R2R nut...I have had 13 different ones but kept these as my two favorites. I have only about 50 tapes left as I digitalized all my analog a couple years back(sold the...

    System #338 (CLSIIz)

Thanks...I am still getting used to the concept of "beaming" music/Pandora across the house.

Budget amp for ML Ascent i's

had a Sunfire Sig II and it gives you the best of tubes without the "tubes"...compared to a CJ 11 and very close contest IMHO.

    DIY Horns done my way

Fantastic...will never forget the first time I got to audition the JBL 4350 monitors...many speakers are more "accurate" but put them up on a stage and run a early generation R2R tape thru them and you'd swear the band is right there:bowdown:

    CLX in Toronto

MAC's MC-2301...I am generally not a tube person but I heard them with the Wilson Sasha's at Audible Elegance in Cincinnati:music:

Martin Logan - Super Systems... Seeing / Hearing is Believing

Request is ML's best (IMHO) looking speaker and may have the most potential to compete with it's modern offerings...I just wish ML would allow some of the newer technology to drift into replacement panels/parts for some of these older models.

    CLS /II/IIz Shortcomings

agree that sections have been demarcated to isolate/focus specific frequecy ranges but unless the panels are electrically isolated the whole panel receives the entire bandwidth....none the less it is a wonderful design:music:

    CLS /II/IIz Shortcomings

The wide CLS panels can have a bit of treble phasiness which may due to very slightly different arrival times at ones ears...it should not be a problem or as much of a problem with the CLX as it is a 2 way and the higher frequencies are being handled by the narrow panel. I have always thought...

    Speaker-cables & ESL’s; low-capacitance - coax???

I have ...with a little help from "friends" got to compare several different makes ...from at the low end...Parts Express up to 1k$/meter ...Placette preamp to Conrad Johnson premier 350 to SL3s...no difference ...bought the DH labs demos anyway because ACI had them on sale at the time...good...
