Speakers You Have Known And Loved...

From about 1973 to 1978 (Jr High & High school) I listened to a Panasonic transistor radio while falling to sleep. Good music of the era plus radio comedies like Chicken Man, National Lampoon and Gabe Kaplan kept me going. Similar to this...

My wife is mad at me...is it justified?

You married well, now take the difference and do something nice for her for being such a good sport. Don't put it in those terms or words though.:D

What phono stages are you using and why did you pick that one?

Pre-Amp: GRAAF WFB One tube with tube phono section Link with info/pictures: http://www.graaf.it/wfboneeng.htm I would like to do a side by side with something else, been told the phono section is very very good. It sure sounds good to me.

Just When You Thought It Was Safe.....

Interesting read, what tools were you using which gave you such accurate readings? How much is invested in such tools?

    Tube Costs

I bought my EL-34 Tung-Sol's from them, good service.

    Turntable Mats

Those Ringmats have been around for a while, I guess for a good reason. I've never tried one, maybe on my next table.

    Need amp advice

Sylvania, Ohio...............on the SE Michigan border. You might want to visit some of the hi-end shops around the region and see what they have. Anything of quality should fit. If you decided to come up to Royal Oak/Detroit or Ann Arbor give me a yell. EDIT: these guys are near me in Ann...

Aerius Bass Driver - What is it?

Could you show more of the room layout? I'm confused about what your overall look of the speaker is now like. Looks like you had fun tinkering with it.;)

I just bought a Bose System!

I've heard pretty fair Bose sound before but I had been drinking. The commercial stuff ain't that bad, I've sat though a presentation once at my old architecture office. What ever they found to compare it to was worse than Bose, that's all I know for sure.

The next snake-oil gimmick: Damping your electronics!

Where did those pictures come from? Is their an attached article? Scary look'n.

    Subwoofer. What's the point...

Mine can only do 140 mph, I must need a new car.:D A subwoofer is so that you can feel the music, not just hear the music.

Lexicon pawns off an Oppo BDP83 as theirs?

In Michigan we have our own code based on the International code. Unless you are increasing structural loads more than around 7%, the existing "structure" is good to go. This has not prevented building departments from demanding existing framing drawings of joists which have stood the test of...

I just bought a Bose System!

You will impress some visitors with that Bose system, but they will be people who have never heard of Martin Logan.;) You did the right thing, keep your life as simple as possible.

Aerius Bass Driver - What is it?

I mean it in good fun, I sort of know where you are coming at. For the last seven years I've been cutting up and rebuilding my hovercraft. The experimental skirt is always close to working, but never as good as the factory setup. Somehow it is more fun to learn and tinker than to skim over flat...

Aerius Bass Driver - What is it?

I think he likes the challenge.:D With the high crossover of the original Aerius it is the less airy of the upper end hybrid stats, and I think the better balanced for it. Taking cover now.

    toobie newbie

The GT might be Groove Tube. From what I've read they may come off the same Russian production lines, perhaps graded to a higher or different specification. http://www.groovetubes.com/ I used a Tung-Sol 6sn7 input tube in my power amp, I suppose it has a similar sonic signature to its bigger...

    Lyra delos

It is so freaky that the stylus sticks out beyond the body like that. Most cartridges have the stylus tucked under the body, perhaps to protect it from harm.
