    Banana Plugs Vs Spade

I use spades on the wires to the amp, and lockable bananas on the wires between the panel and the woofer.

    Power Cords

A while ago, on Canuck Audio Mart, I saw a PS Audio C7 power cord going for about $50, so I bought it for my Mac Mini, on which my music server is based, thinking I would sell it if there was no improvement. The seller was in town, so no shipping cost (maybe a dollar for the gas to pick it up)...

How is Tim doing after 1st knee?

Glad to know you’re doing well, Tim.

What size room do you have your SL3's in?

I had my SL3s in an 18 x 12 room, and now in a 20.5 x 13.5 room. They definitely sound better in the larger room.

    System #542 (Theos, Motif x)

Roberto, YOU got scolded for saying trust your ears? What do those members who scolded you trust? Oscilloscopes? Please keep saying it. There’s too much crap in the various audio forums from people who say that if you can’t measure it you can’t hear it. I’m always amazed by the arrogance with...

    System #460 (CLX)

Roberto, Nice to see an updated pic of your system. Mucho Gusto! It seems to me that you’ve increased the toe-in of your speakers, but that’s going by a 4-year-old memory. The last time I visited you I could not hear the effect of the RoomLenses, but you could. Very subjective, this hobby...

    Panel slippage

Contact ML’s service department. They will send you, free, two brackets to install under your panels to prevent future slippage after you fix the problem. You can ask them at the same time about the sticky tape. The low volume on one side is most likely because of a panel wire that got undone...

To tube, or not to tube?

Since you mentioned Audio Research, I thought I’d chime in here. I have an ARC SP 9 MK II preamp (much modified) and ARC VTM 120 monoblocks driving my SL3s. The system sounds wonderful.

    Power Cables

Hey Adam, I like the concept of “virgin wound toroids”!

Anybody using a Salamander Archetype audio rack?

I used to have a Salamander Synergy rack, and found that it was not solid enough for me. It really needed spikes to be used on a carpet, but that was not an option. I then decided that I needed something lower, so I sold it and repurposed a wooden stand I had.

    Hi there

Dave, I’m confused: if you’re a Rogue Audio fanboy, what are you doing with Pass amps? And when are you going back to Logan’s?

    room size

Go for 12x16. 10x20 is not recommended acoustically as one dimension is a multiple of the other.

    System #541 (SL3, Logos, Aerius I)

Welcome to the forum from another SL3 owner (from Canada). I agree with you that tubes drive the SL3s very well. I used to have a Copland 50 w/channel tube power amp, which was inadequate, so I upgraded to a used pair of Audio Research monoblocks that put out 110 Watts. My speakers really...

Where are all the CLX, 15a or Neolith users?

I think it’s a cost thing. I doubt most people can afford to purchase the top end models to which you refer. I know I can’t. If I could afford it, I would buy the CLX in a heartbeat, but not having it I would not be able to add anything to the discussion.

CLX ART - risks of buying used?

A year or so ago there was a guy just North of Montreal who had a pair of CLX Art advertised at CAD$23K, as he wanted to upgrade to Neoliths. I watched in despair (could not afford them, but I’m close enough to rent a truck and pick them up) as they steadily dropped in price until they sold at...

    Classe amps

Adam, I should also tell you that I’m a procrastinator! Besides, at the moment I have no money to spend!

    Classe amps

Adam, I always wanted to buy Classé amps because they’re Canadian-made, and because I can easily drive to their factory in about two hours, but they always seemed just a bit too expensive for me. I should give them a serious listen....my ARC monoblocks should really be serviced by ARC, but I...
