With such a front-end, I would seriously consider the Vantage, but that's just me... The Clarity will definitely benefit from one feet more clearance (making it two feet), but it will still sound acceptable I guess, depends on how critical your are... I think only speakers designed to be placed...

If you don't hear it with any other DVD, it must be in the source... If you watch it 'on air', a lot of processing takes place, mocking up the sound. Probably, it's your surround processor being tripped by phase errors in the sound.

Birch Plywood does WONDERS under audio equipment. Large slabs under each component will balance out the sound.

I think the Vantage will have more or less the same 'problem'. Although ML said they have improved dispersion.

Don't underestimate this guy! He is a very good engineer that was invaluable in Electrostatic design. Go read you ML manual, it mentions him! He probably uses multiple panels on a curved service. Nothing wrong with that!

This amp runs hot no matter what... It is based heavily into class a, so no worries, it is part of the design...

I have the same experience with my Nordost Blue Heaven. Stranded cables make the sound more 'fuzzy', with a smaller soundstage and not as tight and clean as solid cores.

If the transition from panel to woofer is good, I don't mind the higher crossover. It means more headroom for the panel! I am also very curious of the selling price...

I have tried two mats and both did good things. Then I painted the CD edges green with a very cheap felt pen (although a very specific one, forgot the brand) and felt no need anymore for any mat, they now only made the sound WORSE!

I use the Stax Lambda Signature with SRM-3 solid state class a energiser. Happens to be an electrostatic headphone... :D Better than all the dynamic headphones I tried.

Just buy Soundcare Superspikes! Cheap and very effective. They use a fixed cup under the spike. http://www.soundcare.no
