    Impedance Anyone?

With subsequent measurement sessions I'm finding that the measurements below 1kHz are inconclusive, varied from session to session. Some reasons can include the fact that I'm working with such low voltages that they are close to the lower limit of the Current clamp probe, and, the lower...

    Impedance Anyone?

I finally got around to measuring the impedance of my ML stats. I've looked at various methods for doing this, but decided the easy way out was to get a Current Clamp for my oscilloscope. I'm not expecting exacting results from my low grade equipment, but it's close enough to get an idea of...

Well, my BF 210 has a big problem and I purchased it new in July 2021. Here is what it is doing.

Robert, this has been enlightening for me as an exercise! Learned more about how to measure really low voltage signals that are down close to the noisy power adapters that power the wireless devices in my room. I had to change what was plugged into which outlets to reduce the common noise. And...

    Hello from DC

Welcome! I've often wondered about the AHB2 amps and our Masterpiece speakers. Good to hear your happy! I've only read good things about those amps.

Well, my BF 210 has a big problem and I purchased it new in July 2021. Here is what it is doing.

It took me a while to measure because the DMM isn't resolving enough, had to hook up the oscilloscope - which I'm not proficient using in this way. I don't have differential probes so common noise is an issue at levels this low. And it took me a while to adjust the settings to resolve the signal...

Well, my BF 210 has a big problem and I purchased it new in July 2021. Here is what it is doing.

I use wireless, Emotiva VSUB, and the ML subs turn off automatically. Later today I'll measure the output of the Receiver when the processor is in Standby and On.

    Summit standby power draw

Consider the era in which they were designed. That's very low power for that time. My Krell S-1500, designed just before 2010 - later than the Summits, while in standby consumed about 70 Watts, and 130 Watts when Idle. When it was sent in for a repair about 7 years ago that circuit was updated...

Well, my BF 210 has a big problem and I purchased it new in July 2021. Here is what it is doing.

This is what I think is the case with auto-on features. It takes a substantial amount of level for my ML subs and 13A speakers to turn on, but not as much to keep them in an ON state. With subs, the signal has to have low enough frequencies at the threshold level to get them to turn on.

Anyone using Michi M8’s with their ML Electrostats?

I thought there is someone around here who has a Michi amp?

    2023 Axpona

The Minuet has a great sound! It played strong down to 40Hz, and was playing down to 30Hz and dropped off from there. It's right up there with the best for quality of sound, quick, smooth, not sharp or shrill, very capable. It has a "luxurious" kind of sound, whatever that means, but it was...

    2023 Axpona

The small rooms had two main layouts that each had its own resonance, one being at 61.5Hz and the other at 73Hz. The smartly arranged rooms knew this and severely limited the seating, or, angled the display to alleviate the condition, or, deemphasized the bass in such a way as to mask the...

Opinion of using the Emotiva XPA-DR1 to power a Martin Logan Focus Center Channel speaker

No, not an issue with the stat panel getting power to energize it. It's only a problem with the internal amps that power the woofers on the Masterpiece speakers which have a path to ground via the capacitors that are there specifically for grounding.

Opinion of using the Emotiva XPA-DR1 to power a Martin Logan Focus Center Channel speaker

On the Masterpiece speakers with powered woofers, the amps are indeed GROUNDED via capacitors so this cannot be properly checked without power being applied. So, the Emotiva DR series amps cannot be used with these speakers. I spoke to Lonnie from Emotiva at AXPONA about this and he remembers...

PBK: ARC For ML Subwoofers & Masterpiece Speakers

I've been super busy this last week and will be again this week, but since I had the mics setup I checked some stuff. With the 13A, ARC on or off makes no difference in delay. This makes sense since it would be problematic if the delay were different and would mean needing to run correction on...

PBK: ARC For ML Subwoofers & Masterpiece Speakers

My first step is to LOWER the Target down by -3dB so any possibility of boost being added in the correction process is minimized. Instead of forcing a rolloff at the low end, I maintain a flat target. When the Deep Bass Boost is changed from 0 to 1, this is adding back 1dB at 20Hz which was...

    Hello, Everyone!

Welcome! So it's because I'm a tinkerer that I've only had 3 pair of speakers since 1979? Good to know! I tinker a lot, in between the music and movies. Tinkers unite!

    2023 Axpona

Since about 2014 or 2015 it's been in Schaumburg IL, and before that I think it was in Florida.
