I am planning a trip to Denver next month. This journey will take me through Utah. Zu's factory is in Ogden. I was going to try and find a place, hopefully at their headquarters, to take a listen to these unique and seemingly controversial loudspeakers. I know they have a 60 day try-before-you-buy policy....which is very very cool...and also unique in our industry. But they are so close to me, that I feel like I might as well go listen to them on their "home field".

Has anyone any experience with any of the Zu speakers? After reading several articles and reviews, I think its worth a shot. The prices even seem very very reasonable....of course thats if they perform up to their claims. :)

Pipe up if you have anything to add or say in general about Zu.

PS.....hmmmm....Wilson Audio is also headquartered in the same region....and we are a dealer so I know I could get in there for a grand tour.....ahhh....and I know Dave and I would get along. He is a Ferrari man as well....although the big difference there is that he owns them...I only drool. :)

The thing I've heard about the Zu is that atleast some of the earlier versions of the Druids were some of the worst measuring (FR) speakers some reviewers had ever measured.

And that the recent Zu "fest" where they displayed all their speakers in a jam session was so empty, the DJ was spinning alone.

That's the extent of my knowledge... sorry.

I thought they sounded good at HE 2006 "The Show." IIRC, they were driven by some small SET? amps and sounded very musical at the time. Haven't heard a pair since though.

Have not heard them, but in the current issue of Robb Report Home Entertainment the Druid was given a favorable review.

I listened to them at the RMAF last fall where they were being used in of all things a 2 channel home theater setup. It was a good demonstration of how a well set up system can be utilized to great effect without surround and center information with the right material. When listening to them for music only they were very nice indeeed - but didn't rock my world the way many other setups at the same show did.

Hey Audiophiliac, if you want to get together when you're in Denver send me a PM. So far I've met Dave and Roberto when they have nbeen in town. Always happy to meet someone else from the club!

I will see what I can do about meeting up. I wouldnt mind having a listen at that beautiful system you have there. Ill likely only be there for a day or 2. We'll see,

On another note, can you see if you can dig up any info on that demo at RMAF? Who was doing the demo? And with what gear? Its always been an interest of mine....the whole 2 channel surround phenomenon. I have an old Hughes AK100 that does some nifty tricks with stereo. :)
