I guess my setup says it all -- Glorious tubes on the panels and solid state on the woofers of my ascents. When I switched to bi-amping in this manner, it took my sound quality up by several levels.
I also agree that the next most important thing for great bass is room acoustic treatment, and that is the next thing on the agenda. We are moving into a new house in a few months, so I will get to set up a listening room from scratch.
In my opinion, the best of both worlds for bi-wireable Martin Logans is the use of Tubes for the Panels and SS or Digital amplification for the Woofers.
