Only kidding , I know what you mean , I believe that some of the reasoning behind the looks is to intice us analog guys into thinking digital playback can be as sexy as our analog pieces, namely turntables.

I concur with your observation though, the digital gear I find most visually appealing bears a striking resemblance to good old analog turntables. I've posted a number of my favorites over in the turntable thread...

THIS UNIT is an absolute piece of garbage! It uses a cheap plastic transport from Korea. My home audition with this junk ended after 15 minutes. Loose bass, disconnected overly polite sound; JUNK. My 6 year old Sony blew it away!

It uses a custom-designed transport by Raymedia -- and it is built like a tank and sounds fabulous. So, I respectfully disagree...
