Kerry and I just got back from seeing the Star Trek movie in IMAX.

PERFECT. Not one complaint from this lifelong ST fan... loved all of it. Well done from start to finish.

I will be seeing it. I have been a Trek fan my self.

Our local cinema is commiting the primal sin of not showing it the Director's Lounge... so my viewing will be delayed til it gets there...

I also thought it was great!! Better than I would have expected! I am no Trekkie, but I enjoy a good remake of an old classic. I was happy to see Nimoy make an appearance, but then kind of disappointed not to have seen old Shat make any kind of cameo. Oh well....he is probably busy negotiating the price on a hotel room. :)

Cool - I'm going to go see it too... Didn't know it was on IMAX....Are we a bunch of dweebs or what? :)

No, the dweebs are already watching it on a bootleg Chinese Blu-Ray. We're just enthisiasts.

Planning to see it as soon as possible. The wife (who is definitely NOT a fan), told me this morning that she's interested in seeing it.

Entertaining, worth seeing, but by no means great (in my humble opinion).

Saw it tonight.

Could not agree more Tom!!! I had a perma-grin for more than 2/3 of the flick. Great movie, and the inside stuff that only Trek fans would know was off the hook. I imagine it would be nice for non Trek fans also.

Doug- out

There's a new StarTrek movie?

< JK:devil: >

Yes, Jon, haven't you heard?

Can't wait to see Darth Vader again!

Took the misses out tonight for dinner, drinks and the new Star Trek movie... at the IMAX.

What a ride. We really enjoyed it. Being a Bill Shatner fan, I was bummed they couldn't fit him in somewhere. Nevertheless, the cast did an excellent job!

Knew it was coming soon but didn't know it was this weekend.

What is the setting? Post original series or pre? Between some of the series we are familiar with (Enterprise, The Next Generation, DS9, etc)???

Thanks for the insight. Since I have Martin Logan speakers and a 70" screen I usually wait for stuff to come out on Blue-Ray as my system is better than anything this side of IMAX and our IMAX is not convenient for me to get to, not to mention the wheelchair seating is usually sub-par...

Hi James, I'm with ya man, I usually wait for the movie to show up on DVD or BluRay as well.

My system sounds tens (hundreds?) of times better than a theater, and my video is often way better. So why bother?

The ability to always be in both the audio and video 'sweet spot' at home is priceless IMHO

I mean, it's sort of like the difference between riding the metro bus, being bounced around in crappy seats with a poor view, listening to PA-quality audio, or ridding in a Lexus in the front seat listening to a MarkLevinson system. :p

I thought I'd try the P2P networks for a (probably duff) copy... and ended up with three porn movies, and Star Trek III, all described as Start Trek 2009!:D

Serves me right...!

I can't remember the last time I went to a movie theatre. I can't stand the deafening sound levels.

C'mon guys. I enjoy watching movies on my HT as much as the next guy. In fact, it's been about 2 years since I've seen a movie in a theater. But the new Star Trek, at the IMAX is pretty darn cool. It's not like you're watching this.
