I still have a set of Sequel II speakers that need to be picked up. As my CR-V is down for the count (needing new tires and some other maintenance work), I am thinking of stopping out in Connecticut to pick them up on our way back home from South Carolina in a few weeks. (We have our oldest down for Marines basic training on Parris Island.)

Since we'll have a mid-sized car, I wondered if the panel sections detach easily from the base. If so, we should be able to fit those in the car. We will not have much luggage, plus we can put the seat down if necessary. But, transporting them at their total 6 ft. length is out of the question for that car.

I'm figuring the panels probably disconnect easily with a wiring harness, and the panels probably attach with a few bolts. If it's too much work, I will wait until after my winter semester to go pick them up in the CR-V, as I can put the passenger seat down in front and gain some extra room in the rear, without disassembly.

If what you're looking for is: 'Can I make the package shorter and fit into a tight space?' then the answer is no, there is no way to make them shorter.

The Sequel boxes are primarily two long side pieces of MDF that go from the bottom of the woofer box to the very top of the unit.

Removing the panel is no problem, but you still have this big, long box with a large hoop (that holds the panel). With no way to make that fit a small car.

I'd measure twice even for the CRV.

The trip has come and gone. (It was a moving graduation event, I must say!) And, we had to take the Malibu. The ride back was not all that good--we made great time until we got to within about 15 miles of I-77/I-64 intersection--an overturned tanker (elderly driver, fell asleep at the wheel, rolled the semi and dumped hazardous chemicals all over) had traffic backed up for several miles (and hours!). We did make a *ahem* u-turn to get around it on I-77, but had to wind through a lot of back roads to get back to an interstate freeway. Anyway...

The Sequels will fit in the CR-V, as long as I move the passenger seat all the way forward. This allows the bottom of the rear seat to fold further forward, and they'll slide in with plenty of room. Worst case, I'll have to plan a trip where the weather is dry, and I can wrap the panels in a couple layers of plastic and have them jut out of the back window slightly. I'd only need about six inches or so.

I would have thought those side rails were attached with some kind of bolts and, thus, be removable. If they are glued on, then there would be no way to remove them easily. At least it was an idea.

Thanks!
