A few weeks ago I got a PM from the itinerant JMAUSGP (Joe), saying that he was going to be racing (cars, that is) on a track in the Laurentian Mountains, North of Montreal, and could he buy me dinner in Montreal (a 2-hour drive for me in a Ferrari or a Honda).

Not one to turn down an invitation to dinner, I accepted. Bonus would be that I would meet Joe :)

We met last night at a restaurant that I suggested, for an incredible meal; if anyone likes crabcakes....

BTW while we were at the restaurant in walked Cheech and Chong, who were in Montreal for the 'Just for Laughs' Festival.

It was great to meet Joe and a friend of his, and discuss his racing and this forum. Turns out that Ferrari puts on a show where clients get to test drive Ferrari's latest starlets; more like harlots, considering that Joe was obviously thoroughly seduced. He did have a twinkle in his eye, though from his posts I suspect that is his natural state. I predict that Joe will get a new Ferrari before that new CLX centre channel. He did seem to enjoy all of his test drives.

We also discussed this forum and some of the colourful characters in it. We both also added the same item to our bucket lists - do the Bristol Hi-Fi show with Justin. We seem to have acquired a few new Justins, so the one to which I am referring is User211. That handle always makes me think of a junkie, okay, maybe a tube junkie......inserting tubes into unimaginable places?

Well, all that to say it was a real pleasure to finally meet Joe, share a nice dinner, very pleasant conversation, and a few laughs.

Thanks for suggesting that we meet, and thanks for dinner Joe.

Sounds like a great time , I am jealous, great crabcakes, good company and the chance to talk about Ferraris and audio equipment. Sounds like the perfect evening

Bernard, I hope Joe rolled C&C a joint or two - would have been rude not too!:)

That reminds me, I still haven't arranged the date for my Ferrari versus Aston Martin challenge. Gotta do it sometime soon.

As for your assertion as to what I get up to with my tubes, well I must admit I just can't get the 211s to fit into any bodily crevice I own.:D

WRT the Bristol hi-fi show, well, Silverstone would be better. And Joe'd be happy with the race track there, too.:)

Glad you two have met. I meet quite a few English audiophiles these days, due to actually posting on a UK forum, rather than some strange American website. But this place still feels like home to me, even though I'm barely hanging on the ML ownership with a Descent:)

Not sure how I picture Joe, really. Is he basically a bit insane, Bernard?;)

Are you serious, B? Just in case you don't really know who Cheech and Chong really are: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheech_%26_Chong

I would have thought it almost impossible not to have made the connection without knowing what/who they really are. The truth is it is surely you who is insane:D Joe and I are totally normal.

Justin, I do know who they are, but your abbreviation did not click. Call me slow, not insane :)

Pictures Bernard? It is a prerequisite you know......
Unfortunately it never crossed my mind. I did have my iPhone so could have easily taken a few pictures, though not of the quality achieved by our resident pornographer. Sorry !

Well, mine aren't the best either. But I will be going to Silverstone with my pornograph for 24/25 of September, so we'll see what we end up with.

The hotel it is held in is huge and actually very nice, so I've booked a room for this year too. The facilities are great so wife's are well happy there.

See you there Bernard & Joe. Only I suspect not!:) Oh well, not all bucket list items need to actually be realised.;)

Don't be so sure Justin. Bristol Show is now on the list and it is only a matter of time til we get there.

Bernard, it was great to finally put a face to the wit I have enjoyed on the MLC forum. It is great to have a friend in such a nice place. I can't believe that we all spaced doing photos.........I guess that is us showing our age.

I am at Elkhart Lake tonight, getting ready to do Road America tomorrow. It should be fun........I am hoping to use all the new techniques I learned at Mont Tremblant.

For anyone who gets a chance to drive Mont Tremblant or Road America, don't miss it,they are truly two of the great tracks of North America. Oh and the towns and accomodations of either place are not bad either.

We went to a Best Buy yesterday after we got back to the States and we got to look at some of the 3D pictures and videos that I shot up in Canada.......really incredible. Again, if you have not taken the 3D plunge a Fuji W-1 and a Panasonic 3DTV is a great combinantion, it will change your photography life forever.

If there is enough interest, I will try to post some of the pictures of the Ferrari Driving Experience(FDE) later this week after I get back to Indy.

Suffice to say the FDE is an unbelievable experience and the new 458 Italia is the best sports car Ferrari has ever built and just may be the best sports car ever made......time will tell.

Well I have to go attend a drivers meeting for Road America, so I will check back on Tuesday, tomorrow is a track day.....all day.:D:D:D

So when are you getting one? I got the impression that you were hot to trot to do so.

Well, unfortunately you can't just buy one.

First you have to get on a list.

Right now it looks like I will not get one until next summer.:(

At least that is what I am being told now.......maybe in 6 months that will change.
