Will, looks like I just became a PASS fan and owner. :D So far I find the amp to be very transparent, clean and has tremendous headroom for when the ML's calls for it. I had to slide the amp on to it's platform because it's so darn heavy, only 150lbs. I also replace my NAD pre-amp with the Simaudio MOON P-3 so I can take advantage of the XLR balanced interconnect topology. What a world of difference! I think the PASS is the best match for our ML's!!! :rocker: **** Pictures Here! ****

What a gorgeous piece of kit and a wonderful system. I also love your avatar! Is that a Kenne Bell, a Whipple or something else? I have a Mustang Cobra with an Eaton which I hope to upgrade once the factory warranty expires. Your Pass looks even bigger than my Rowland.

Congratulations

Hi George,

Am glad you like your 350.5. Out of curiosity, what made you decide on the Pass Labs?

GG

George, that's way nice of you to get the Pass Labs just for our upcoming TBLS meeting! Can't wait to hear it!

George,

Congrats on the new Pass and welcome to the club. I'm loving my 350.5 as well. I'm also looking forward to getting a preamp in place that allows me to take advantage of the balanced topology. Enjoy the music!

Uh oh... Pass Labradors are beating the Plinius Pentad....

Congrats to you though! Great amp!

Joey

A Long-time PASS enthusiast

I am glad to hear about the positive experiences with PASS amps and M-L ESLs. I have had Pass electronics in my system for 10 years which now include the X350.5 (IMHO the best amp for the money in their line), the XO.2 preamp, two XONO phono preamps, and an X-3 for my center (Stage) and surrounds (Script-i's).
The company not only makes great equipment but they support what they sell. When you spend this kind of money for equipment, you hope that the manufacturer will stand behind it. This is not a given in the high end market place. I have had very few problems with their equipment but when one occurred, the Pass team was right on it and it got fixed promptly.
It would behoove those considering solid-state high power amplifiers to consider this product line for their M-L's. I would suggest that these amps get mated with one of their preamps since the 10K impedance is not for all preamps.

Tony, thanks for the compliments. It's a 2.3 Whipple boosting @ 18lbs. It's bolted to a built 5.4 in a SVT Lightning putting down 575HP @ the wheels with mild street tune.

I have a friend who has one which I was very impressed on how it performed. Also seeing a few of ML owners has it and swear by it. It's an extremely fast amp which is a GREAT! match for our ML's

Nice Rack!
Rampage-, where do you go to look at (hifi) equipment around Tampa?

George, So just 'cause I got sick while in Fla and we couldn't get together you decide to go to the 'Dark side' !! Only kidding as you know, congrats, I hope it gives you 'goose bumps' for a long time to come !!

Ok, Plinius and BAT owners we have only begun to fight ! We shall all rally for the pursuit of "audiodom" in Lawrence this June !!!

Dave, at least next year while you'll down here you can see and hear the "Dark side" in all it's glory. :rocker:

We prefer to stay in the light my friend.... ;) .

I wish one of you Chicagoans would get a Pass X.5 series amp, so you could get together and do a comparison. I would love to hear a description of the similarities/differences between the X-350.5 and the Plinius SA-102.

Joey, I think your next major upgrade should be another SA-102, so you can run them as monoblocs. (Rich's Law of Amplifier Return on Investment: If 125 wpc of Class A power sounds good, then 400 wpc of balanced dual mono Class A power will sound AWESOME!) :rocker:

[The above statement is the opinion of the poster; your mileage may vary; see dealer for details.]

Kevin (KWR if I remember right), runs the 102 in Mono and Balanced.

I think he just commented recently on having to get one of them serviced and noticed a significant change when using one in stereo.

YO KEVIN!!! You reading this :haha1:

Rich, Good morning, actually the Plinius SA-Ref would be a better apples-to-apples comparison to the 350.5. The SA-Ref operates in pure Class A up to approx 120 watts and then Class AB to it's rated 300 watts.
