The newly announced subwoofer lineup includes a new set of models that take over the Abyss name while using different topologies in their design.

Here are the specs from the press release:

Nearly two decades ago, MartinLogan introduced the Abyss®, a larger and more powerful successor to the original Dynamo® subwoofer. Renowned for its deep, articulate bass, the Abyss® Series continues that legacy, blending the best of past innovations with a contemporary twist.

Key Features and Benefits of the Abyss® Series:

● Compact, Precision Sound: Seamlessly blends audiophile musicality and theatricality with dynamicoutput and accuracy in an ultra-compact design.

● Big Impact, Small Footprint: Utilizes an 8” or 10” Hybrid Woofer System, which combines an active aluminum woofer with two Aluminum passive radiators. This design enhances output and reducesdistortion akin to ported designs, yet preserves the compact size and tighter bass associated withsealed enclosures.

● Magnitude® Amplifiers: The Abyss® 8 features the Magnitude® 1kW amplifier with up to 1000W Peak(500W RMS), while the Abyss® 10 boasts the Magnitude® 1.6kW amplifier, delivering an impressive1600W Peak (800W RMS) of clean, powerful bass.

● Ultra-High Resolution DSP Engine: Equipped with a class-leading 500MHz DSP with 64-bit processing for audible transparency of all advanced DSP functions for maximum output and fidelity.● Reinforced Cabinet Design: Incorporates a sealed, 1” thick MDF cabinet with center brace and reinforced woofer baffles to deliver articulate and precise bass performance.

● Integrated Anti-Vibration Feet: A sleek solution that improves system dynamics by reducing vibrationtransfers into adjoining rooms, fitting all flooring types.

● Effortless App Control: The MartinLogan Subwoofer Control App for iOS and Android allows ease oftuning from the comfort of your seat.

● Integrated Wireless Receiver and Transmitter for a clean setup, ensuring both lossless sound transmission and minimal latency.

● Robust Connectivity: Abyss® 8 and 10 offer incredible installation flexibility with both RCA and XLRLFE inputs, Stereo RCA inputs, Speaker Level inputs, and Sub Out connections. Simultaneous connections are also supported.● Supports the award-winning Anthem Room Correction (ARC®) for tailored equalization, tuning, and calibration to maximize bass impact.

I like that this model includes an 8" version, which should be ideal for small rooms, as one usually requires multiples to achieve smooth response (due to room acoustics).

I have four Dynamo (the smallest they ever made) subs in my 12x11x9' media room, and they (plus Audyssey) deliver very smooth low-end, but it just will not play very loud. So I'm contemplating upgrading to the Abyss 8" in the future.

A nice touch in the use of dual passive radiators. That should enhance low bass impact and transient response, while negating any type of bass boom or port noise.

I like the connectivity with XLR and other setup opportunities.

This looks like REL with 2 radiators. Very form friendly and effective solution for small woofers and boxes.
But as usual - nothing is for free - you pay with increased distortion, phase issues and Group delay. Still nothing beats sealed designes with big woofers and volumes.

What is even more interesting - looks like ML has re-designed their driver vs current Dynamo woofers - it seems, they are aiming for longer throw [understandable with 8in or 10in]
