Currently I'm utilizing a pair of Vantages up front with a Motif center and Depth-i and considering purchasing a Stage (non-X) from my trusted A/V sales guy at close-out for $1600 and buying another Motif to utilize them for surrounds for a 5.1 setup.

Question being; am I better off selling the Motif, buying the Stage and buying a pair of Electromotions in-walls for under $800 for surround or is the extra (potentially) $3400 worth a potentially great, albeit not very aesthetically pleasing, surround sound using Motifs?

Feedback greatly appreciated.

I'd suggest selling the Motif, getting the Stage and solving the rears with EM in-walls or other EM-series as approriate for the room available.

All the ML ESL centers are highly compromised due to the 'under screen' placement challenge. So people put up with the limitations (next to no vertical dispersion from that tinny horizontal ESL element) due to constraints in placement.

For rears, you want really good dispersion.

Thanks for the feedback. I can only see my self using multiple Motifs on the front stage (Center, left/right) and agree with your comment about dispersion. I'll be putting mine up for sale on CL.

Now to decide which in-wall ML's to get.
