this morning while cleaning some black dots on the panel of my Aerius
I made a hole in the mylar , pushing with too much energy against the diaphragm trough those small circles;

,do you think this fact will affect the sound ? Help :mad: :(

I guess that's one way to get a more airy sound.:eek:

I've been told to be happy don't worry.

Although I once threatened a fellow stereo customer with sudden death should he try again to poke holes in the stores demo model with his ink pen. This was back in my youth when I carried a knife, he had a pen. Don't you ever believe that the pen is mightier than the sword, it's just not true, at least that day it wasn't.:D

It never got past me grabbing his arm as he lunged towards the diaphragm to demonstrate his callousness. It was the most excitement I had that year.

Blasphemy!!!

Poking holes on purpose!!!

In some places this would result in your hand being CHOPPED OFF!!!

When I say some places, I mean when I'm around Logans, especially if they were my own set!!! :eek:

In general, no, i will not impact the sound in a major way.

But if you have serious enough black dots that you resorted to rubbing them that hard, it's probably time for a new panel anyway.

If they still sound good to you then fine, but I think you you should put new panels on the to-do list for sometime in the next year or two.

Regarding Kachi's story of a punk trying to poke holes in a store demo model, I'd have made a counter-offer to demonstrate on him how holes poked in a human being with a pen are also non-fatal and recoverable :mad:

I just cannot understand the lack of respect people have to demo equipment (stereo or otherwise). Don't they realize all they accomplish is increased prices for everyone, including themselves?

I was in the local Circuit City the other day, looking at an HD-DVD player (didn't end up getting it). While there, I noticed they had about a half dozen turntables on display (all low priced commodity units). Upon a closer look, I noticed that EVERY single one of them had the stylus broken off the cartridge. I agree with you 100% on your statement about the lack of respect and higher prices, and would be willing to bet that the person(s) responsible would be the first to complain about those same higher prices...:mad:
