For experimentation, or even a permanent solution, the current Oppo BluRay player in your system is more than up to the task of being the 'renderer' on the receiving end of music and video streaming. $0 cost -> No risk.
Ah. Missed that. Way to go. Though depending on the DAC, it might be better or worse as a HiFiBerry. I know the HiFiBerry boards used as the base for Bryston's DAC, so it's gotta be fairly good, if it's good enough for them.
Also, navigation will likely prove to be a challenge depending on the level of information presented by the Oppo display.
But point taken - if it's strictly for experimentation, the price is right. :rocker:
